(And most of the good stuff from PBS, A&E/History Channel, and ESPN: 30 For 30, but just so long as you know some of the essential features first. )
I just checked out Black Fish at the Hot Docs film festival in Toronto. I'm pretty sure it was also screened at Sundance. It's a rather interesting documentary about the ethics of keeping killer whales in captivity for performance purposes. I actually ran into the director on the street later that night an had a quick discussion about her film and other docs we both admire. Very nice lady too. I would recommend tracking this one down.

I never would have guessed that you like Eisenstein. I am certainly hoping those two get releases

That's because you never seen my tattoo of him on my left cheek

Kidding I really enjoy his movies, have the DVD of the two above but cannot wait to have a Blu-ray upgrade of them

We just need more Russian and Eastern European blu rays in general. On my behalf, I would love more Mikhail Kalatozov with Sergey Urusevsky cinematography (especially The Cranes are Flying and I am Cuba), Andrei Tarkovsky (especially Andrei Rublev, The Mirror and Stalker) and Alexander Sokurov

Speaking of Woody, I have a French doc about him made last year on DVR. Will be watching this during the weekend

I am surprised that Andrei Rublev is not yet on Blu-ray

Woody seems to be having film ideas based on where he wants to vacation next

Speaking of Russian Silent cinema, has anyone seen the films of Boris Barnet? Rosenbaum writes very highly of him in his latest blog entry.

Fellini912, I'm right there with you. I'm sure you've seen Russian Ark, but have you seen Mother & Son? It's very powerful.

One of my most wanted BluRay releases. It should look spectacular in high definition.

On the topic of Russian cinema, here is one of my favorites from recent memory...

[Show spoiler]

I saw The Return (Vozvrashchenie) at the theater back in 2003, and my mind was blown. I'd love to see this film released on Blu-ray someday.

To sweeten the deal, it's only 70 minutes long or so.

I was thinking about getting tickets for a showing of Mistaken For Strangers up there. Would you recommend the event in general?

I read every word of this last night, but was too sleepy to write any comments. Soderbergh makes some good points, but it's tough to tell whether or not he's showing excessive bitterness about the reception to his latest film, Side Effects.

I like several of Soderbergh's films, but I do not particularly love any of his films. He has a strangely clinical and detached manner of storytelling that has never reverberated with me. Still, I like the way that Soderbergh has always endorsed creativity for the sake of creativity, and his enthusiasm for cinema as an art has always been appreciated.

3:10 to Yuma is one of my favorite westerns, too. I thought Ben Foster did a fantastic job in that movie.

I'm equally excited to check out the original version. It's my most anticipated Criterion release.

I prefer the original version of 3:10 to Yuma, but not by a wide margin. The remake was fun and well-made.

I have not seen the remake, but I heard through some friends that it is really good. According to many critics, it is actually one of those remakes that improves on the original. That reminds me, I should watch Soderbergh's Solaris. I heard similar comments about Soderbergh's remake. I am pretty sure Cliff Martinez's film score is a big plus for the remake.

Soderbergh's Solaris remake did not improve on the Tarkovsky version (I haven't read the book yet, so I can't compare the book to the film yet) but it's a hell of a film. I'm still baffled how it got an F-Cinemascore (which ultimately means nothing), why does "slow" have to be a dealbreaker with modern audiences?
