If they went with a 14 episode order, it would end right around this time next year. Then again with Idol hemorrhaging viewers, maybe they need at least one night of competitive programming for Winter-Spring. (HOPING that the recent season ratings wipe a lot of this reality crap off the air...Idol/Bachelor(ette)/DWTS/etc.)
With Fox having the Super Bowl, it would be the perfect lead in for the return of Jack!

I hate that they killed Renne Walker (Anne Werching), yes Jack went on the warpath but seeing a love of his die happened in Season 1 with Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) and Audrey Raines (Kim Raver) left him, Jack wasn't really ever happy since Audrey Raines left him and Renne Walker was killed.

Loved the first 4 or 5 seasons but season 6 and 7 didn't really add anything new or I thought.

Can't wait, I said recently that I hadn't been as anxious to see episodes of Game of Thrones as much since 24.

Glad to see 24 will be back.

Yeah but that happened in the last minute of the season so we only saw Jack's immediate reaction. Besides, Nina only killed Teri in order to protect her escape route (not knowing Jack would be entering the parking garage the same time she was exiting it). Renee was killed because of a larger conspiracy, which Jack had to stop... in the most violent way possible. It's all about context and the execution (no pun intended) of a plot twist, even if something similar happened earlier in the series.

This is awesome news. I missed it all when it aired but caught up with the DVDs a couple of years ago although I'm not sure I'd cope having to wait a whole week between episodes.

Pfft. Baby. Try waiting a whole month, like in the old days!

Yes because bringing someone back from the dead is so plausible...

BTW guys the article I read said NOTHING of a 24 Reboot

Will a new day dawn for “24″?

According to a new report, FOX is in talks with series star Kiefer Sutherland to bring the series back for a limited run.

The show, which aired from 2001 to 2010, featured the actor as agent Jack Bauer who worked for the fictional Counter Terrorist Unit, with each episode airing in “real time.”

There’s been speculation for years about continuing the series as a big-screen movie, but production was canceled last year.

If “24″ returns, the episodes will feature a brand-new storyline, reports Deadline.

Gossip Cop has reached out to FOX for confirmation.
Where in these stories does it say Reboot, it would be Season 9

The only time 24 ever brought someone back from the dead, it ended up being my least favorite "twist" in the series history.

Tony definitely died onscreen. They retconned it later with some stupid explanation.

As if 24 had ever been a plausible show.

The worst part about Renee's death was that it could have been easily replaced with a fake death scenario. Only thing they had to was taking Jack out of hospital for a while, then some government agency swooping in and putting Renee into witness protection without Jack knowing. Her resurrection would have been easy to write because she had already reached the hospital unlike Tony where they had to make up some inane explanation for revival.

She ended up dying because the writers just wanted to rush a silent clock to the end of the episode.

Reboot is just the current trendy word and is mostly used incorrectly. This isn't a reboot. That suggests they'd be starting from scratch ala Amazing Spider-Man or the new Batman. This would carry on and would indeed be season 9.

If people want to tag it as anything it should be a revival.

The same could be said of most any death in 24 with the exception of Edgar and a few others that died in Season 4/5/6. I do agree while most of 24 falls way off the ridiculous cliff it was for the most part a very entertaining show.

Yeah but I did not like or care about most of the deaths in 24 either. I never saw character deaths as holy grails of writing as people try to make them out to be, they more looked like desperate attempts to milk plots or admission from writers of not being able to develop the characters properly.

There was a few I thought were very well placed, I think of all of them Edgar was the hardest one to watch. His is the one to me that stands out the most.

Edgar's was heartbreaking but the hardest one to watch for me was Chapelle's. Regardless of how horrible a person the character could be, the way that scene was done - in writing, performance and direction - was devastating.

I had almost forgotten about Chapelles Death, the scene of him on his knees looking at the sky zoom out to Jack pulling the trigger was just yeah that was a tuff one to stomach.

Cheesiest one to me was Bill thought his should have been much better, they failed at trying to make him a hero.

24 was always ahead of the curve with the President, trying to be brave and new. We had an African American President before there really was one, and we had a Female President too.

So what will they do next in an attempt to be bold and slightly shocking?

Gay or Athiest?

I just heard that 24 might be returning as a "limited TV series". Some good news, at least. But, I wonder how they will continue it since Jack Bauer went "off the grid" at the end of season 8.
