I'm in region 1 and I should get a region 1 disc. There are still many things they can do for it and one of them I think should happen in the future is a Blu-Ray 3D disc of which 3D was one of the original ideas for ROTLD to be shot as.

I have a 2D to 3D tv that my ROTLD dvd looks nice but it would be even better if it was a 3D BD.

Oh and Day of the Dead doesn't already have a UK BD with tons of features yet Scream is doing one too. How does that make sense. Funny that ROTLD fans have to compromise for another regions discs but Romero's dead films fans don't.

Well, you're not getting one. Buy the region-free disc like everyone else, or make do with the inferior MGM one.

They need to give some hints as it could be literally anything otherwise.Theres as someone said the usual guesses on facebook, nearly all being shot down by some rights terminator spoilin any enjoyment of it.
As most of my major wants have been shot down(Fright Night part 2,Leviathan,Jacks back etc) hope they come up with a genuine surprise from a new deal.Hope its not Motel Hell,Deranged and Squirm as Arrow are releasing them though that would be good for those without region-free players.
still, whatever they are its great to see sf show no signs of slowing down.

Well, I got a response... and all of us with only R1 players will probably get these as a double feature from Synapse next year!

And isnt it true that the disc features the original soundtrack, but it is not in HD like the remixed track.
The entire disc is region free (ignore the "wrong region" screen that shows up at the beginning; it can be bypassed by hitting the Top Menu button on the remote).

However, the film and the More Brains documentary are the only items on the disc are in HD. The rest of the extras are standard definition PAL content. If your player or TV can't play PAL, you won't be able to watch these extras. My PS3 won't play those extras, although my Oppo player will.

The original audio track is PCM 2.0.

Do you or anyone know if this is the same for the Basket Case Trilogy, or any of 88 Films releases (Puppet Master 1-3, Subspecies 1-3, ect.)? It's so hard to find this info online and it's usually conflicting. Some say the extras are region free, some say they are not. Can anyone officially confirm these one way or another?

I'm only interested in the releases if the movie and all the extras are 100% region free no matter what TV or player I watch them on. Don't want to worry about watching any of these 10 years from now or anything because region free players are hard to find.

The 74-minute Basket Case trilogy retrospective is HD, so I assume that means it will play on players that don't support PAL? spawningblue, did you check your player on the compatibility link that zbinks provided?

After much deliberation, I have decided that I will take a swing at the three titles:

[Show spoiler]Phantom of the Paradise
Curtains
Prince of Darkness

alternates:
[Show spoiler]Prom Night
The Thing
Invaders from Mars

or literally anything else. We have no clue what they are cooking up.

I understand the rights and who has what, but I have my reasons for suspecting these specific films.
[Show spoiler]I feel like they may have, amid their work on the releases from the already-made deals, also may have made one/another with Echo Bride, Fox, and Universal.
I just wanted to take a long shot with this one.

My guess would be more educated had they provided some type of hint on one, or all of them.

If I were to guess, Id say Prince of Darkness , some Wes Craven film owned by Universal or MGM , and some never been released before on DVD or Blu Ray like Cellar Dweller ...
Hunch - 3 Universal titles that are considered major

No I didn't, but I am not going to have this player forever so want to stick to discs where everything is completely region free, so no matter what player I have years from now I won't run into any problems. Yes, I know I am weird.

Awesome, thanks a lot! Now if anyone knows about any of the 88 films releases (Puppet Master series, Subspecies series, ect.) that would be great! Also, what about The Thing UK disc?

And sorry, I know this isn't the correct thread but I have asked on several threads and never get clear answers. So far you guys have solved the mystery surrounding the Basket Case Trilogy and Return of the Living Dead, so I know you know your stuff.

My bets are on:

- "Prince of Darkness"
- "Fright Night Part 2"
- "Without Warning"

That's just what my gut is telling me at this moment... Give me sometime and I'm sure I'll say something completely different in a few hours

i would try to stay away from mgm, i think theyre about out of those. the mgm ones you mentioned were already shot down.

i think they might have a couple left though, maybe Invaders. not sure if tht one was ever shot down.

im focusing on new deals with fox, universal, and a gut feeling, although crazy, echo bridge.
