Does the Gaumont transfer look soft? Absolutely not! The over sharpened Sony transfer fools people during a screencap comparison. The Sony transfer looks like a video. One of those overly processed old HD transfers, full of EE in every shot, digital sharpening, etc. Once you see it, you cannot pay attention to the movie. The color timing of the Gaumont release is dead accurate to my theater experience. Sure, the whites are clipped a little, but it's miles better than the archaic Sony mess. |
