I find it equally annoying when they announce a BLu-ray title months following the DVD release.

I refuse to buy any more DVD's that do not have a Blu-ray discs released at the same time as the DVD. They must think their customers are really stupid to double buy a title thinking that we will pony up to more money with the purchase of the Blu-ray release.

I bought Atonement and American Gangster and regret these purchases.

I will watch the high def versions on PPV for 4.99 and if the Blu-ray is not released before the PPV showing they will lose my Blu-ray purchase.

The only exception is Gladiator if it is released in Blu-ray.
Yeah that stuff can be annoying, but Universal wasn't releasing on BD when AG came out and it wasn''t ready to go when Atonement came out. I wish There Will Be Blood was ready, but it seems Paramount is holding off and it's only available elsewhere because Disney is handling it. I don't really understand how Gladiator is an exception to what you were talking about being that it was released on DVD before BD was around.
