Just got my US BD of Kickboxer.

I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised.
The PQ isn't as bad as the official review has made out. It's been given a two out of five.
I would give it three stars. For a low budget film I think they did a pretty good job on it. Every now and then there is a bit of dirt but nothing horrendous. Colours are good, it's bright, clear and sharp overall. The detail is where it could be better. Sometimes skin is a bit waxy, but apart from that, it's a pretty decent transfer.

I'll be keeping this version and won't bother with the German release.

So when is Sudden Death coming to Blu-ray?
Van Damme's best action movie.

Thumbs up

We ordered our copy of Sudden Death & Hard Target from dddhouse.com. should have it next week as it shipped yesterday so we are hoping it gets here next week for sure!

Really hope Lionheart gets an upgrade to blu. That would be awesome as well.

I've only seen a couple JCVD movies. I really like Universal Soldier. What are the best Van Damme movies on blu-ray and why?

Unsure why you like this one so much? I was a HUGE fan of his as well in this but was disturbed that he had trouble beating up a girl in a Penguin costume or am I remembering this wrong?

Lots of big white specks thoughout, audio sync really badly out in a few scenes (see conversation with Winston in front of van outside martial arts school), frequent soft image and waxy skin. I don't know how old the scan is, but it must be old.

Funny thing is Van Damme used to get such good transfers on DVD back in the day.

Yeah, Come on, Chris. Just import :-) If you don't like the UK cases, you know there are ways of getting them (and the artwork) replaced.

On that note: Everyone calls it "importing". Makes it sound like there's some major logistics and paperwork involved. It's plain mailorder.

I have almost completed my classic Van Damme collection on Blu-ray.

I have;
No retreat, No surrender
Bloodsport
Cyborg
Kickboxer
Death Warrant
Double Impact
Universal Soldier
Hard Target
Timecop
Street Fighter (I know but I had to get it. )
Sudden Death
Maximum Risk
The Quest

I am just waiting on Black Eagle and Lionheart (A.W.O.L) now.

got my copies of Hard Target and Sudden death the other day.

Sudden death lookes decent, no wild digital manipulation but could use some work

Hard Target looks pretty darn good for a worn out nineties movie. both are very solid upgrades over the DVD

I still don't understand why even JCVD fans are ashamed of that movie. It really is one of my favorite movies he's done and I'm never ashamed of telling anyone.

The UK BDs of Sudden Death and Hard Target are significant upgrades on the DVDs.

Both are Region Free so no reason Americans can't import them.

I enjoyed it too. Kylie Minogue is a big plus. Raul Julia is a lot of fun as Bison.
