ummm.... maybe the fact that they have completely changed the character? That now Maleficent is really a good person and she's on Aurora's side?
"Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well."

wow, I knew you were a blind lover of all that is Disney, but if you don't see why people are upset about this, you really are out of touch!

Disney's RABIES -- starring Tim Roth as a Rabies virus -- tells the story of an innocent strain of rabies that is unfortunately passed around between Texas livestock and predators in the 1880's, until one day a wolf passes it to a lovable big dog called "Old Yeller". Knowing the evil human masters of the dog plan to kill the dog, and thusly the rabies virus, the misunderstood rabies virus decides to take control of Old Yeller, so that the two may escape and live free unhindered from harm....

“Maleficent” is the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.

Disney's MAN -- In a new look at the events of BAMBI, Forest Animals in a secluded valley are mistaken that Man is an unseen predator. The Deer, Rabbits, Skunks, Quail, Owls, and Squirrels are particularly confused on this point. Instead, Man is merely there to shoot the fleas off their backs. Sometimes he misses. Can't blame a fella for trying.

MAN - In theaters 2016.

You gotta stop with these Rister, I'm gonna wet myself.

The official synopsis is SO awful and derivative. It's like a mash up between "Wicked" and The Wicked Witch of the West from "Oz the Great and Powerful." Sounds dreadful.

Disney's THE REAL ELEPHANTS OF FLORIDA -- In this new look at the events of Dumbo, we learn how the conniving Kimmy Snotzentrunk (alias "Mrs. Jumbo") used her seductive powers to lure the potential suitors away from her group of boxcar friends while on Spring Break with the circus in Florida. Angry they were denied attention from their male counterparts, the friends are shocked to learn Mrs. Jumbo has in fact been sleeping with a coven of demonic Cocker Spaniels. When her unholy offspring arrives, with giant malformed Cocker Ears and the freakish ability to silently communicate with vermin and crows, the friends band together to keep Mrs. Jumbo and her Unholy Child from destroying the Circus...and the World.

Holy flurking schnitt. That plot sounds worse than I ever imagined in my wildest nightmares. Just when it seems Disney has scraped the bottom of the barrel, they find a way to surprise you.

So who, exactly, is this movie supposed to appeal to?

- Clearly no one who's ever seen and enjoyed Sleeping Beauty, that's for sure.

- No one who likes the character of Maleficient, since this is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CHARACTER WHO JUST HAPPENS TO ALSO BE NAMED "MALEFICIENT".

- No one who actually valued Walt Disney's contributions to the films that bore his name.

Anybody have an idea?

Maleficient commands ALL THE POWERS OF HELL. Her appeal stems from the fact that she's PURE, UNREPENTANTLY, GLEEFULLY EVIL.

I wouldn't watch this movie if you paid me. Between this and butchering The Snow Queen into the ultra-generic, mother-of-missed-opportunities Frozen, Disney has permanently turned me off to their new output. I won't be be wasting any more time or money on their steaming piles of shit.

If anyone thinks I'm going overboard, well -- sure. I'm always going overboard. That's what makes me "me". But anyway...forgive me if I go on a Tarantino rant with you...

...but Maleficent is so evil, she doesn't kill Baby Aurora on the spot (though it sure seems she could have). No, instead, she says, "I'm going to let all of you fall in love with her, and every year is going to be better than the last. For sixteen long years, every day she is going to grow more beautiful and friendly, until you are out of your mind in love with her -- and THEN I'm going to kill her!"

THAT'S Walt's Maleficent. "The Mistress of All Evil". And that's why Disney fans are shaking their heads today at this "misunderstood, fighting for her Kingdom" plot synopsis.

"Don't hate me when I bite you or try to kill you. I'm just misunderstood. Say what? Oh, all that 'Forces of Hell' and 'Mistress of All Evil' talk...well, I was upset. But I can find my path to true happiness again someday! Now...lie still so I can bite you..."

I'm guessing that she is not as good, as the plot synopsis is making her sound to be.

I don't know . I notice Angelina Jolie looking much more like Maleficent then Monica Bellucci does.

That plot is atrocious! I had no interest in this to begin with (I don't see any point in doing live action versions of the animated films), but if that's the direction they're going, I may not even give this a chance. I hate whitewashing, and that's exactly what they're doing. If they weren't prepared to make a film that centered around a purely evil villain, then they shouldn't have made this. I would've been happy if they did it similar to the Devil's Rejects, where you have loathsome character, yet find them appealing, despite knowing you're supposed to hate them.

I guess we should have known. Disney wouldn't make a movie where it's title character is pure evil. I was at least thinking it could have gone down the road of Hook. Dustin Hoffman was likable as Captain Hook, but he really didn't have any redeeming quality.

I have to say, I am not even fond of that poster.
