I met Sir Charles Barkley at Phoenix sky harbor airport a few years back. I was just kickin it in a small little sports bar restaurant having a few beers waiting for my flight on a layover. In walked Charles all by himself and took a seat at an open table right next to me and just started shooting the $h!T with me. It didn't hurt that the Masters was on when Tiger was still on top of his game. He opened with what hole they were on and if tiger still was leading. The conversation just went on from there and we just talked for about 5 minutes. It was obvious tiger and he were friends because he sure ragged on him like they were tight. It was all joking though. He was just another guy sitting in a bar watching the Masters talking to another guy while having a beer. Very cool and genuine man. I never acknowledged who he was nor bothered for an autograph. I think at times, celebrities just want to be regular ol folks and just hang out and be treated like anyone else.
The man is big too ![]() |
