Add another user that is Happy that Slumber Party Massacre is getting the Blu Ray treatment. I still would have liked the full trilogy at one time ala The Amityville Horror, but I'll gladly support this solo release if it means we can get a combo pack of 2/3 later. As someone who had never watched the films until Spring 2013,I can say that these are fun Cheesy B-Movie affairs that are well worth it at a cheap price. It's actually in these movies favor to NOT have them be collectors editions, as it means they can leave the DVD out, not worry about custom artwork, and as a result hopefully sell these for a lower price. As others have stated, I own the Trilogy on DVD already as well, so I'll create my own combo packs when the time comes.
On a side note, my Prison and Terror Train Blu rays arrived from amazon today finally, and I'm happy to report that BOTH came with the slip covers, so it would seem that as far as those movies are concerned, ordering from amazon still nets buyers the slipcovers as a few people have reported they've received them this week. |

Now exactly a year later, and Slumber Party Massacre is so by the numbers that I thoroughly enjoyed and thought it worked well, Sleepaway Camp threw me completely off guard, and I have a Toxic Avenger shirt I wear at least 3 or 4 days a week. |

Slumber Party Massacre features the most pathetic killer in slasher history. It's most incredible feat was boring me to tears, despite being only 75 minutes long. Don't get the love for this one at all. I remember watching House on Sorority Row right after it - now there's a good slasher film.

It's curious to me that people focus in requesting and speculating what titles Scream Factory will release yet when there are other studios that cater more to cult items like Synapse Films, Scorpion, Blue Underground, Severin Films, Grindhouse, etc. Some of the titles suggested here might be a better fit for those studios. I enjoy Scream Factory but I'd hardly call them genre heroes for releasing such totally safe films as Halloween 2, The Fog, The Howling, etc. These are great movies that represent popular entries in the genre that are sure to sell. If you want your favorite cult oddity or undiscovered genre gem to get put out it seems that one of those other studios is more likely to make a gutsy more lavishing a more obscure title with polished extras and restoration. I remember how cool it was in the hayday of Media Blasters to seem some obscure nasty pop up on their catalogue and miss those types of titles. If nothing else, the disproportionate frenzy with which fans buzz around Scream Factory guessing and requesting seems odd with the increase we've seem in releases across botique studios (even Cult Epics just announced some gems - Death Bed, Nekromatic, etc).
I'd be curious to see Scream Factory take more chances and release great movies with less popular appeal - their emphasis on projected sales betrays their fanboy loyalty to creative subjects. Despite being a business I'd be curious to see them gamble more often now that Scream Factory has achieved some success. |

They certainly have their taste and their focus (which I happen to love at the same time as I love Blue Underground and other labels you mentioned) but as time goes on and they exhaust the most obvious titles they have access to, it will be interesting to see if fans can pull them in even more obscure directions. And, to their credit, they do seem to listen to and interact with their fans a lot (esp. on social media). Hopefully this can be a win-win situation, where Scream Factory, armed with a robust budget and active release schedule, will head in multiple interesting directions--at the same time that their fans will, in forums like this, learn about other labels doing quality work from members like you. |
