Not sure how many others did this, but maybe that is why the doc seemed watered down.

I think they did okay with the Dash vs Warington debate, but they really held back on the PART 5 stuff. In the book, it was page after page of trash talk about the director.
Yep. I was looking forward to the Part 5 section more than any other, because of the book. I expected it to rival or beat the awesomeness of the part 2 chapter of the Nightmare on Elm Street doc. But it was completely toned down and tame. Part of that could be due to the director dying since the book. But the whole thing seems really tame. More like a studio doc than an independently made one. I've only become more disappointed with it over time.

I know Crispin Glover is fine with Friday the 13th. I was at this BIZARRE poetry reading he did at First Avenue in Minneapolis a LONG time ago (mid-90s, maybe?) and he did signings afterward. I had intended to but forgot to bring my Friday IV VHS for him to sign. I asked him if he would sign it if I went and got it, telling him it would take me about 40 minutes to get back. He said if he were still there, he'd "sign it twice." I got back about 40 minutes later and he was just finishing up with signing. He looked at me, took the tape, and signed it twice -- once on the front, once on the back. As promised.

I think that's why the Part 5 chapter didn't have any of it; it really was covered in the book. I know they've said they wanted it to be a companion piece to the book and not just a video version.

What did the bonus 5th disc have on it? Anyone know where to get that bonus disc edition?

I want to pick it up but I'm not sure I want to track down the bonus disc or just go with the regular retail edition.

Over 4 hours of extended interviews. I actually got a lot more new info from the bonus disc than I did the doc itself. If you're more than a casual fan, you'll want it.

Plus Fred Molins interviews which dont appear on the main doc at all are included. They say on the commentary the digital files messed up so they could'nt use them. So i guess they managed to fix them and put them on the bonus disc instead.

I think I'll probably go for the bonus disc.

Anyone know any online sellers with that version? The site doesnt seem to advertise the bonus disc any more?

The bonus disc was only available directly from them but the offer expired on Sept 30th 2013.

Does Julianna Guill talk about her sex scene/nudity in the main or bonus disc? Or any discussion about that sex scene at all?

Is this going out of print? I noticed the Amazon price jumped from under $20 to over $30 in the last few days. Hopefully it's some other reason so I don't have to pick it up immediately.

Prices on Amazon fluctuate constantly, they have claimed because of stock vs demand. If they run low on a title, it tends to jump in price. Absurd for sure, but i've seen it.

Just a heads up to people still undecided on this, i listened to the "The Final Chapter" commentary with Peter Bracke on the sausage factory youtube channel last night and he said the blu-ray is nearly out of print, dvds left but blus nearly all gone.

I get the impression based on these recent posts that this doc, while the best that we're gonna get for a meticulous Friday franchise analysis, isn't as grand as it should be.

Is there a more comprehensive documentary covering all the films, on BD, out there?

I think those that complain about this, for whatever reason, probably complain about a lot of things in life.

You make a good counter-argument.

Personally I thought this was an excellent documentary. With these kind of documentaries, it's unavoidable that some fans will wish there was more focus on one aspect or another, and that's to be expected. We all have our favorite in the series, and some will wish that more attention was paid to certain films or certain aspects, but overall this was worth every cent.

I didn't realize there was a separate DVD. I tried looking for one on Amazon but nothing. I just figured it was a combo pack. If there's a separate DVD release, I'd gladly buy it at a lower price than pay $30 for the BD.

It's not quite as epic as Never Sleep Again, but - the source material also didn't have as much oomph, either. There was just more to talk about with NoES vs. F13th - in spite of the latter having more films. They really were producing these assembly-line-style at one point, and catching up with the actors and a bit with the director really tells the most interesting bits pretty quickly. There just wasn't a lot of nuance to discuss.

It's still far beyond anything a studio would ever give us - and I can't imagine a better job being able to be done, either for CLM or NSA. Both excellent companion pieces to each other - though I'd watch CLM first and then NSA, because NSA is just that much more solid.
