for people who doubt the cost reduction that sony just did..(5) million blu-ray laser diodes for players AT ($8.00 EACH DIODE)..what was the COST of BLU-RAY DIODES FOR 2001...
![]() UPDATE: 06-13-01: Nichia America is now making directly-injected VIOLET diode lasers at 5 and 30 milliwatts (405nm), and they now have a directly injected BLUE laser diode (5mW at 440nm) with a lifetime of 500 hours.
