My 2D version is "Preparing for Shipment" and I was charged this morning. I have prime, and it'll likely be on time for tomorrow.

Mine shipped over the weekend via Prestige. Im a Prime member but usually always get my stuff sent by UPS.....anyway it will be here for release so Im excited to see the quality of the statue.

So who has special editions of this? I know Best Buy has a Steelbook that is suppossedly 3D only. Does Target, Walmart, or Amazon have a special version of it?

The Hobbit Extended Edition isn't listed on Target's website or wasn't even in their weekly ad.

Walmart has a pre order page for an exclusive but no one knows anything about it.

I received both the US and EU release of the 3D extended edition today. The EU release is twice as thick using an Amaray 5-disc case as opposed to the Viva Elite in the US. The US release is definitely the one to get if you're tight on shelf space (especially since you presumably end up having 3 of them).

I just checked out the Goblin extended scene on YouTube. Not as bad as I was expecting, but I could easily do without it.

I literally have like 5 movie packages coming tomorrow, but that statue edition from Amazon is the one I'm most looking forward too. And I'm finally having a tech fix my plasma TV tomorrow as well

I want to thank the fine folks at WB/MGM/New Line/Wingnut for striving to match the packaging of the LOTR extended films. Same black cases, same aesthetic on the discs. Ever since the DVD sets were released a decade ago, they have strived to make these discs that look good on bookshelves.

IIRC our UK cases for the EEs were big boys too, so at least it'll be consistent.
