My experience is BB/FS ship anywhere from 1 week to 1 month past release day on preorders. Amazon ships on day of release, assuming it's not a rare title which they may not have stock on at all.

Either I am very unlucky with Amazon.ca or their shipping department is extremely incompetent!
Everytime I order a Blu that is not a standard amaray case, I seem to have a problem with them.

I remember last year ordering the Polar Express Steelbook, they shipped in a bubble mailer and of course got to me damaged. They then sent a replacement in a cardboard box which was fine.

Last week I placed an order for E.T digibook and Full Metal Jacket digibook.
I received FMJ on Friday, of course shipped in a bubble mailer, then forced into my tiny mail box by Canada Post. When I opened it, part of the shrink wrap was ripped, all 4 corners were worn out + they were heavily bent and 2 of the edged had a heavy dent.
I filed a return claim and specified in the comments that this item should be packed in a cardboard box or letter in order to avoid being damaged.

Yesterday I received E.T. Same thing, it was shipped in a bubble mailer and slammed in my mail box. When I opened it, all 4 corners have this light wear often found on digibooks. Although I wasn't too happy, I figured it wasn't worth the hassle, specially given the great price and also most likely I would get a worst one if I would exchange it.

Today I received my FMJ replacement and even though I specifically mentioned to ship in cardboard, they still shipped in a bubble mailer, the postman still forced it into the mailbox and the 2nd digibook still got to me damaged, worn corners, heavily bent corners, dent on one edge.

So this time I called and mentioned that I receive tons of packages from amazon uk and never get any problem but when I order from CA which their warehouse is only a few km away, I get problems. She apologized (even though it's not her fault) and she would send a replacement but unfortunately she had no way to specify the type of packaging. She said she would however submit feedback to the shipping department.

This is one of the reasons I much prefer buying in store than online. If you get anything other than a regular BD, the condition of what you get depends on the competence of who ships it.

Welcome to my world. Canada post ALWAYS jams things into my mail slot. Go on twitter and get ahold of Canada Post there, they'll escalate it to someone and they'll call you and talk to your mail carrier about doing stupid things like that.

Honestly, although I'm no fan of CP and the mailman could be more considerate/smart/whatever, I blame this 100% on Amazon. If the mailman has a bubble mailer he can easily fold, then he will. If instead he'd get a box or the nice cardboard envelops like amazon.uk uses then he has no choice but to put it in the big mailbox. It's up to the retailer to control that, not relying on their hope that the mailman will think and be smart about it.

Actually all you guys need to do is send your mail to your office or school. Since I switched a few years ago, my damage rate near zero.

If you give the mailman an opportunity to jam something in a mail slot, you know that he will.

Honestly, I think 99% of the damage comes from the last leg of the trip from the local office to your home.

Maybe the mail man is pissed that you guys are all ballers with packages coming in the mail for you every day and purposely jams them in to damage them out of spite. j/k

Sometimes it's Amazon sometimes it's damaged during transport. I've received some poor condition items in cardboard mailers before. I was able to exchange or refund then without problems. Amazon has been pretty good about returns/exchanges --- just print the return shipping label and drop it off in a mailbox.

However, I've heard some horror stories about people getting banned for doing this too much .

Yup, back when I lived in an apartment I got packages crammed into the mailbox as long as they would fit.

I still remember when I ordered 3 copies of the original Iron man steelbooks - I had to return the outer 2 because they were both dented and scratched to shit.

Ended up only keeping 1 for myself at the time, which is long gone now.

since we're talking about mailmen...

i ordered Little Mermaid on Amazon; i check thet status of the tracking, and it says it has been deilvered to my community mailbox.

i check, and it's not there! that was yesterday, and some people got it 24 hrs after the status updated to delievered.

after i wait, and it still doesn't come, what do it do? do i contact amazon or UPS? what can UPS do, if the package is lost and deilevered to someone else?

has this ever happened to anyone before?

As soon as I'm done watching it, I'll drop it off at your door
I'd try amazon first, they'll probably send you to UPS.

As a mailman from Canada Post, (don't shoot me, I'm not the one squeezing your boxes - if it don't enter, I leave a callfor) and only us have access to community mailbox, UPS, Fedex, Puro must deliver at your door..

Amazon's probably done the math on what the damage return rate is based on different package types and costs. I've been lucky but I also provide a secure oversized place for packages to be left. It's not foolproof but at least the postal carrier never seems to fold the items, you should follow up on that, it does not sound like a good habit.
