I'm well aware of that fact. But I'm sure he realizes he can win a national title at UCLA, I don't know if he can do that with the Huskies.

they were talking mainly about auburn/alabama and saying how some on the committee wouldn't want to see another sec vs. sec national championship game again so they would put auburn vs. alabama as the first game then fsu vs. osu as the second. it would normally be #1 vs. #4 then #2 vs. #3. but that would potentially lead to another sec vs. sec championship game so they would probably make it so 'bama played auburn again with the winner playing the winner of the fsu/osu game.

then one of the buys brought up oklahoma state and how they might get the pick over alabama and missouri so there wouldn't be any potential for a same-conference match-up in ANY of the playoff games.

but here's my thoughts on it.....

what if there are three teams from the same conference in the top 4. and i'm not talking about just the sec, but from any conference. would they really leave out 2 of those teams and pick 2 lower-ranked teams just to avoid the possibility of a same-conference playoff game or championship game? this is why i think they should've gone to an 8 team format instead of just 4.

if 'bama were to back it's way in to the bcs championship game again this year, it will certainly create riots across the country (not literally, hopefully, i'm talking about on the internet). and while i would be ecstatic if that happened, i could certainly understand everyone's anger at it happening again. which is why think an 8 team playoff is more favorable than just a 4 team system. with 8 teams, there's less of a chance, i think, that the 2 teams left at the end would be from the same conference.

Only problem with that is Bama is not a conference winner and would probably be watching with the rest of us.

Oregon announces QB Marcus Mariota will return next season

This is an interesting decision. Mariota certainly could use another year in school to work on his passing (as could virtually all the underclassman quarterbacks) but he's got a lot to lose. Mel Kiper has Mariota #5 overall on his current big board and if he performed well at the combine and in workouts it's not out of the question he could have potentially been the top QB taken. It's not uncommon for a highly-touted QB to stay in school and see his stock plummet, like Matt Barkley, but there's also players like Andrew Luck that stay and their stock stays high.

I wouldn't worry about Mariota's stock dropping. Barkley was on some rough USC teams already and it came to a head last year. But this year is likely to be loaded with talented QBs, so I think he made a smart decision.

We'll see how Oregon does as a team next year. They were rather underwhelming down the stretch this year, but I have a feel Mariota was more injured than he let on with his knee during the Stanford game. He's a great looking prospect with a high ceiling, but he could use another year to hone his craft.

6 year extension for Coach Mora through 2019.

Guess he should thank USC for hiring Sark as that prompted the leverage for the extension and raises for the Assistant Coaches.

Jim Mora and UCLA have agreed to a long-term contract, increases in assistants' pay and more, according to sources.
Mora was offered the head coaching position at Washington Monday, after Steve Sarkisian left the Huskies program to be the next USC coach.

Mora then made requests of UCLA in order to remain in Westwood. With rumors rampant, UCLA took action swiftly, reaching a deal with Mora on a long-term contract, thought to be six years, worth more than $3 million annually.

Such a contract would put Mora among the top paid 12 to 15 coaches in college football.

Another requirement was an increase in his assistants' salaries. UCLA, according to sources, agreed to increase salaries of Mora's coaches by $1.3 to $1.5 million. An increase of that magnitude should put UCLA's staff among the top two paid staffs in the Pac-12.

A big factor in Mora returning was UCLA's recent commitment to building a new football-only facility. Key to this is UCLA recently securing a donor that will contribute a very large sum toward the construction of the facility.

Other administrative details were also agreed upon, mostly concerning Mora's ability to be less impeded in terms of certain projects and recruits' admissions.

As BRO reported, it was always merely a distant chance that Mora would leave UCLA for his alma mater of Washington. Inside sources told BRO that it was near impossible that he would abandon the team and program he had grown attached to in the last two years. The only potential for the coach to leave would have been if UCLA absolutely refused to approach meeting his demands, which wasn't the case.

i never said anything about 'bama being a conference winner. they weren't in 2011 and still got in. and they guys on the radio never said anything about ok state being a conference winner. they were just saying that ok state might get the nod to avoid an sec/sec national championship game.

If OK State made it, they'd have to win this weekend.... which would make them conference champion.

I'm sure Florida State fans have to be incredibly nervous since if Winston is charged they'll have to start their third-string QB Saturday against Duke. I would assume Winston would almost certainly be suspended immediately as I can't imagine Winston would fit the "extraordinary circumstances" clause that would allow an athlete charged with a felony to continue playing.

Avoid an SEC/SEC championship?

Given the history of the experts and their current love of the SEC they'd probably pick Auburn, Alabama, Missouri, and South Carolina as their final four, because a lot of experts truly believe no other conference is worthy. They don't have to listen to computers, or rankings, or anything else but themselves.

I'm so freaking nervous. At the same time if they were going to charged him why have a press conference and not arrest him right now?

not trying to boost your blood pressure, but there have been cases where they hold a press conference for high-profile cases and as they are reading the findings, the police are arresting the accused.

ESPN is saying that it appears Winston won't be charged.
