I was at my local Walmart and noticed they have added a new BD Movie Night at the Museum well not yet priced and behind the case door I asked how much the Assistant Manager came and opened the Case priced it and I asked him if they were to ever get anymore BD titles in since I do all of my shopping on Amazon for BD movies I thought it would be nice to have them readily available when I want one the same day. He told me that through the Walmart Grapevine is that they will be carrying many BD titles in the Future he said "Very Soon sometime before Christmas" I said well I knew that BD was out selling HDDVD and he said that Sams Club and some walmarts have already been closing out their supplies of Xbox360 HDDVD addons. Which jived with recently seen reports on the net that Sams dropped the price to $80 to get rid of their inventory of 360 HDDVD Drives. I asked him why I haven't seen the HDDVD at the store for awhile he said that Walmart Corporate has discountinued it due to low or no sales. And he mentioned how that is the reason why they haven't carried any HDDVD movies at his store nore many of the others in the US. He asked me if I have a stand alone BD movie Player I told him no but I do have two PS3's and that when Sony Makes a ES BD player I will jump right on it. He said well you do realize that Walmart will never carry anything ES to Expensive more for SoundAdvice and other HighEnd Shops I said yeah your right. Really this guy was pretty knowledgeable most people at Walmart or even Circuit City never even knows what ES is Let alone knowing it is a Sony Elevated Standard Product. So I thought I would post this. Take it in stride I do but it all sounded legit to me. Seems the guy was hesitant to mention anything till I pressed abit for more info.
If this does happen look to see HDDVD fade away by Christmas of this year. Oh I also notice how all of the stores in my area are renovating making the store look abit upscale like a Sears or Marshal's look. The Electronics Dept have what 30 HDTV LCD TV's hanging on the back wall. Maybe they see Bluray as a great Addon for their HDTV lineup? To get the most out of the HDTV's they are selling. Thanks JoeM |
