My Samsung tv allows me to switch instantly between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios which is quite useful at times. But how effective it is would depend on how they stretched it. If they did a full stretch from 4:3 to 16:9, then by setting my tv to 4:3 it would "squish" it right back down to 4:3 with the proper black bars. But if they did something weird with the stretching then setting my tv to 4:3 wouldn't fix it completely because it would still wind up with an odd aspect ratio even set to 4:3. I'm curious to find out if the stretching can at least be corrected easily.

Also, do you find the color to be pale or faded at all? My one thought on the image quality of the screenshots on this site's review is that while it looks quite nice with accurate colors, it does look a bit less saturated than I was expecting. Maybe that's how it really was and we're used to seeing the colors over-saturated in "Battle of the Planets"?

No, I haven`t played with my setup`s ratio. I have an PS3 and Asus monitor. To change the monitor settings themselves would be a pita. haha. I might try it once to see what happens. But, I am not interested in changing it whenever I decide to watch the extras again. I figure I have seen them enough that if I want to watch them then it would be easier to just watch the dvd.

Yeah, I have a slight problem with the remaster. Its great that they cleaned it up and all but it does look a little "lite" (soft) on the image. I actually have an episode of Battle of the Planets that I copied from VHS to DVD many years ago. It looked more like the dvd set except the colors were closer to the blu ray than the dvd. It was basically the first episode that I watched. But, I could see where the colors were "off" on the dvd. And, I also compared it to an youtube clip. haha. Well, I just wanted to get an idea of what the more correct colors were. There is no way I would remember what the colors looked like from back in 78 or 79 when I first started watching it on tv. But, I also remember an article that I read from several years ago where they were saying that they had to rough up the image of 7zark7 when they received the Gatchaman footage so it would match what they had. Now, I`m not saying that the show should look like crap because it did. But, for my own personal taste, I think it is too clean looking.
