One more quick update: I'm convinced the Japanese cuts are real HD. They're "as-is" transfers that have good levels of detail but haven't been given a thorough scrubbing (i.e., lots of dust and such). Interestingly enough, they also have English credits! Very strange. Audio for both is Japanese PCM.

The Japanese opening to Drunken Master should be the one at the top of page 2 of this thread, which would be in Chinese writing as Wong Fei-hong performs the Eight Drunk Gods.
