No reply on the other thread so I will try here. Do Screen Archives take payment for pre-orders on dispatch or when you place the order?

If you pay via PayPal, you will be charged immediately. If you pay via credit card, a pre-authorization charge in that amount will be placed on your card which will come off in a few days. Your card will then be charged when they ship.

I'm in Canada and I received the two Sinbad movies today. They were only shipped in a yellow mailer. As a result the cover art for Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger was damaged. I'm really mad at this as I paid $30 plus shipping for the blu-ray and it ended up arriving damaged and judging from comments here Screen Archives customer service is not the best to deal with.

Well, some of the posts say they've been quite pleased with the responsiveness. So I'd not get too upset until you've tried contacting them.

You may wish to explain that you don't intend to place another order until you are sure that what you get is in good shape (i.e. that you don't expect to wait until some future date for replacements).

I hope that helps.

I've never had any problems with SAE when contacting them with customer service issues, however, other members have reported that in instances where they have received damaged cover art, SAE have said that they would send a replacement case with any future order you make(!).

Just curious, when you say "yellow mailer", do you mean a bubble envelope? That's what I have received in the past when ordering only 1 or 2 movies from them. Since then, I usually try to order about 4 titles so it comes in a nice protective box instead.

I ordered three movies in my second last order and they came nicely protected in a box. I ordered three because by doing so I was paying the same amount per shipping a movie as I usually pay per movie off of e-bay. I have three more incoming (Hard Times, Enemy Mine, and Man In The Dark) and I am hopeful these were shipped in a box as well.

Thanks for the help. When I said yellow mailer I meant the bubble envelope. I have never had problems with stuff arriving damaged before but I guess now I will try to order 3 or 4 titles at a time. I don't plan on making another order until The Blob is up for pre-order so that will be a long time to wait for a replacement. I guess I will see if they will ship it sooner.

Yes... it would be very unlikely for them to still have Sinbad printed stuff (insert/booklet) left lying around when The Blob goes on sale.

I live in Canada too and buying three TT titles at a time seems to be the "sweet spot" for me. It works out for $3 and change USD per BD to ship which is actually less than I pay in shipping for lots of Blus I buy from the US. Best of all look at the care in how these were shipped:

Gah! Two out of three ain't bad... The movie I was most looking forward to has a stupid eco case...

Fixed that... Who else thinks it would be cool it TT used something other than a plain ol' blue case? Seeing as they are "Twilight" would it not be more interesting if they used something like a dark gray like the cool case that came with my Happinet Night Of The Living Dead?

But look at the positive side of Eco Cases.

They probably cost $.01 less per gross to make and the manufacturers can pass along those savings along to us.

So what if it makes the product look like cheap and amateurish bootlegs? It's not like Twilight Time is charging premium prices.

Eco cases are shit cases as far as I'm concerned-I've probally tossed out 60 or 70 of the damn things.

In regards to the Feb 11 releases, do you guy's think that any of them will sell out fast? I would like to read some pq revies before spending 30 bucks a pop.

Thanks,
Tom

Yes, I'm a master of cunning satire .

I don't like to rag on Twilight Time because I really like them.

I like their discs. I have about 14 with 2 on order.

I like Nick Redman who has been very kind to me personally. I have no significant complaint about shipping. I don't mind the prices. I don't hold them responsible for the fact that big studios won't release catalogue titles themselves. Basically, I like them...I like the people...I like the product.

But I do consider Twilight Time Blu-rays to be premium products and I'm mystified by the really cheap Eco Cases. I usually order discs two at a time so I don't get them boxed. They come to me in padded envelopes and I've NEVER had a problem. However, Eco Cases scare me because there is too much chance for damage.

It's just the silliest imaginable two-bit way to cut corners. It essentially saves the tiniest, tiniest imperceptible fraction of a penny while offerring less protection for the product.

Here's a deal Twilight Time: instead of charging me $29.95 and putting the disc in an Eco Case, charge me $29.96 and put it in a proper case. I'll pay the extra penny and you can keep the change.

In case you missed it, Nick addressed this and they didn't know about the Eco cases and will be making sure it doesn't happen again.
