Watched Gravity last night. First time watching it and was a blind buy. I tried to find a cheap used 3d only disc, but was unsuccessful so shelled out the $30.
Content: I liked that it started right away and took me a second to calm down and realize it's already begun. (no previews/trailers) I was a little confused in some scenes and will need to re-watch it. Not a big cast and felt it got to the point and the 90 minutes came pretty quick. I don't want to say too much for those that haven't seen it yet. Video: The 3d did help with the spaciousness and scale. Overall I enjoyed it and I don't need the constant pop out entertaining stuff that may get distracting if overkilled. I really liked the final scene. Audio: I was impressed with the dialog filled all around the room. I loved that. It helped again with the spaciousness and scale. I didn't notice too much low end material. (Receiving a PSA XV15 Sub tomorrow) Overall it was a good experience and my wife enjoyed it too. (Sandra Bullock Fan) I am curious to compare a few scenes to the 2d version. |

Gravity had a ton of low end material. You need to re-watch after you get your XV15. You will be impressed.

Wasn't planning to get any 3D movies this week, but then I really wanted to get one of the Toy Story movies. Went to Amazon and looked up "Toy Story 3D" and saw they had the 3D Trilogy set for just under $70. Sold!! I'm sure this will bite me in the ass later on. I'll go on vacation and want to take them with me, but of course I won't want to drag my PS3 + 46" TV with me, I'll be wanting the DVDs about then.

Watched Silent Hill: Revelation. Not bad. Just as the first part, the movie remains somewhat obscure if one isn't familiar with the video games, but fair enough. 3D looks prettys good. When I see some reviewers b*tch and moan how the scenery is too dark for the 3D to work well, I always wonder whether their equipment simply isn't properly configured.

Watched Doctor Who The Day of The Doctor. Pretty nice 3D overall with I think what's considered character roundness--probably because it was natively filmed. Great seeing David Tennant and Matt Smith interacting. |
