I feel bad for Pat Fitzgerald. He is stuck in the middle. On one hand he needs to have his players backs and their respect but at the same time he is an employee of the university. He is in a tough situation.

The Northwestern union vote is going to be interesting. It is certainly not a slam dunk that the team votes to join a union. The presumptive starting quarterback and a receiver have both said they're against the union, and the starting center has made it clear many players are undecided. Former quarterback Kain Colter has been the leader of the union push but he doesn't get a vote, only the roughly 70 scholarship players currently on campus get a say in the matter, and I haven't seen any current players that are vocal about being in favor of the matter.

Dorial Green-Beckham, the #1 recruit in the class of 2012 and a second team All SEC receiver last season, has been dismissed from the Missouri football team. Green-Beckham has had been arrested twice this year, once for drug charges and once for allegedly assaulting a friend of his girlfriend, but was not charged in either case. It's going to be interesting to see what he does now. He's not eligible for the NFL supplemental draft, so he'll likely need to transfer to an FCS school where he can play immediately.

Chad Kelly booted from CU. Looks like the senior, Stoudt, will start with the freshman, Watson, getting worked in. I was hoping for Kelly to get the starting job but he's gone.

Poor attitude. Yelling at coaches for not going for a 4th and short inthe spring game, benched second half, continues to *****, report of a traffic incident Saturday night and another report of police being called and him escorted out of the football offices. Last two are unconfirmed. Hate to see it and hope he learns from this. He hasn't learned anything since arriving at CU and the coaches have apparently had enough.

Jim Tressel is one of the three finalists to become the new president at Akron. Tressel would be an extremely unusual hire for a college president, as he was the only applicant for the job without a doctorate and he lacks a career as a college administrator that is the norm for a college presidency job. However, one of the key roles of a college president is fundraising and Tressel is still beloved enough in Ohio that he could probably raise more money than any other applicant.

Tressel also applied for the Youngstown State presidency job, and the finalists for that job should be announced today or tomorrow. Tressel coached at Youngstown State for 15 years and won 4 national titles there before moving on to Ohio State.
