Default New Here

I am new here and wanted to know what Bluray disks are considered the reference ones to own.

I have a higher end front projection theater with a Vidikron Vision model 12 720P projector and a 72" wide Stewart Firehawk screen. My BD player is a Denon 2500BTC Transport. It is connected to my Denon 3800AVR along with my Dish Network ViP722 HD DVR. The speakers are L&R Thiel 2.4s, a Monitor Audio RSLCR for the center channel and a pair of Monitor audio RSFX and a Velodyne Digital Drive 18 sub. there is a lot more and some major changes to take place with a projector upgrade to 1080P.

My previous player was a high end Denon unit that played my DVD library disks very well. I have over 300 hundred DVDs.

I have everything set to 720P and the video looks real good on some of the movies I have and not so much better than DVD on others. The audio is nothing but spectacular on all the BD I have seen and heard. I understand the differences in resolution as I am in the business and am a ISF certified calibrator with the Sencore calibration equipment. I think that the previous player I had having such great onboard video processing made the move up to BluRay not so spectacular. And the fact that the projector is only 720P makes a big difference.

Curently I have the GOlden Compass, Kingdom of Heaven, National Treasure 1 (made a mistake, meant to get 2), No COuntry for Old Men, and Untraceable...that's it. I don't want to duplicate my whole DVD library but I do want to have what the experts here consider to be the have to haves in their library. I apologize if this is a thread somewhere else but I didn't find it and it isn't current if there is one.

Also, are there any BluRay calibration disks available yet?
