I was recently watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerors Stone, and the part where Neville falls from the top of the building looked SO fake with CGI! It got me wondering if the movie industry is going to have to make changes to how they use CGI in movies because of Blu-ray. With a DVD it was a lot less obvious how bad the CGI was because of other flaws and the lowered resolution. Now with the better picture, they stick out like sore thumbs a lot more!
Will we see a new revolution in CGI and forced advancement to keep up with the pace of home theater technology? I hope so, because it draws you back out of the movie when you see blatantly fake CGI now. There's less immersion and suspended disbelief I think. |
