I've never ordered from K-Mart, was the BD packed well? I want to make sure mine comes in good condition if I decide to order (they are currently backordered).

It was just in a plastic envelope without padding. It was my first time ordering from them as well. My copy arrived undamaged luckily. I just didn't want to pay Amazon's price. Kmart was the cheapest from what I saw.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep my eye out for a re-stock over at K-Mart.

They use newspaper. Not the sturdiest form of cushioning. I've never received a damaged BD or DVD but the boxes they use for shipping are usually pretty banged up by the time they arrive. Some arrive crushed and/or blown out.

I just watched the first half tonight. I wasn't in the mood to watch the second half this late. I'll probably finish it tomorrow. I do have to say this film looks INCREDIBLE! Grindhouse did a great job on the transfer. Even the found footage scenes look incredible with more detail and more vibrant colors. I watched the first interview with the director about his cannibal trilogy. Then I watched the first half of the first Kerman interview on the disc. He is very open and candid which surprised me. The essays in the booklet are well written as well. I haven't had a chance to listen to the soundtrack yet but will soon.

CF is pure exploitation whereas CH, with its multi-layered narrative, lifts itself up and becomes something of an amalgam between exploitation and art-house cinema. It is beautifully made and the soundtrack is fantastic.

I wouldn't be surprised if that were true.

When I attended a panel at Fangoria Weekend of Horrors, featuring Ruggero Deodato, Sergio Stivaletti, and Lamberto Bava, someone asked what Ruggero thought of Umberto Lenzi's film.

One of my friends who speaks fluent Italian translated for me and pretty much said Ruggero thought he was an *******/piece of shit for copying his film

The Italian film industry produced some of the best film technicians and artists in the world, that's why even their low budget expiation films often look and sound beautiful, but that still doesn't make them art. To claim that anything about CH is art-house is laughable. It was made for a Grindhouse audience and never had any sort of art-house following. And there is nothing wrong with that, but no need to inflate its worth.

He shouldn't have been surprised as the Italians were the rip-off kings of the 70s and 80s. Deodato himself jumped on a few bandwagons, churning out low rent rip-offs of Conan and Airport '79 and his wasn't the first Italian cannibal film either.

I cannot find this on Kmart's website. What's the trick?

Edit: Found it. But it's on back order now

I ordered from B&N on July 1, and had to do the slowest shipping method, which was still 2-6 days delivery, and it would ship within 24 hours, which it did. It sucks that I couldn't do the next fastest shipping method, which is FREE with a B&N membership, but I couldn't find my member number that I had to put in . And it says it's shipping my two items (the movie and the other book I ordered) separately, with Cannibal Holocaust arriving on the 10th, and the other item on the 11th!

Ughhh...it sucks waiting for this beauty.

Not planning to see this but still have morbid curiosity over the ghastly cover image. What happened to that poor woman exactly besides the obvious? The natives wanted to skewer her for BBQ?

The film-maker appeared to be obsessed with brutality inflicted on female genitalia, there is also a lot of very violent raping in the film. I suppose Cannibal Ferox redressed the balance slightly.

Finished the Kerman interview this morning. The argument he got into about censorship with the guy interviewing him was fascinating to watch.

Thank you, that's what I figured since there hasn't been a press release yet.

Grindhouse doesn't do a lot of talking about their upcoming releases until they near completion.... so I wouldn't be surprised if it hits sooner.

That being said, I think they've hinted that Pieces is next on their release list.

They've pretty much hinted everything at this point.
Right now it points more towards Massacre Mafia Style being next (which I hope is true), but it also sounds like The Beyond and Scum Of The Earth are really close to being ready too.

LOL it just came today. Slightly banged up with some small dents on the outer slipcase, which sucks because I wanted a mint copy, but overall it looks really nice. I like that they used different pictures on the back of each side of the reversible inside art but I like both! Hard to choose which side I want to see.
