Well, it hasn't been released and people are endlessly speculating on the slips. Why not speculate on the specs too?

This is a pure packaging thread because people don't talk about anything else. The one or two posts in a thousand that do get buried under more useless "why not a Martell/Bolton/Frey/etc slip?" nonsense.

Well clearly packaging is what everyone clearly prefers at the moment. As far as PQ/AQ it's an HBO release so it's obviously going to stand up to what's been previously released on other seasons. Packaging talk is just something that happens in almost all threads.

As what's been stated to you before, you could always start the conversation you want and maybe other people will partake.

Go right ahead. Nobody is stopping you, much like you are doing to others with your constant whining about non-package talk.
Packaging it part of the release, get over it.

Bolton would be a rather sinister slipcover but I doubt it gets the nod. If I had to choose I'd say Tyrell would be my choice but only Fiery Stag is a close second.
yeah, i agree Tully is probably out of the question for this season, but it's possible we could see an Aaryn (sp?) one this time around. I wonder if they go back to just 2 slips a season this time around.

It's going to be reference-quality Blu-Ray with perfect scores in video quality and audio quality and a plethora of special features, as always with these seasons. Not sure what else can be said or needs to be said about it until we hear more about the special features or can read the review.

Why anyone gives a toss about slipcovers is beyond me. If you really cared about the content you'd buy the Target or Walmart sets that come with bonus discs.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I do find the angst over slips a bit silly. None of the exclusive stuff has been that "exclusive", just exclusively on disc - for instance, the cast talk (can't remember if it is SDCC or Paley fest?) that I believe Target had was really good - but I was able to watch it perfectly fine online via my TV, and since it's talking heads it didn't seem worth it to me to seek it out on disc as I'd never watch it more than once anyway (and it was online in HD, just not Blu-ray quality).

I didn't watch the show when the first two seasons were out on Blu, and I'm certainly not spending the crazy dollars folks want for the exclusive slips on those now to collect them retroactively, but I did pick up the Lannister one for S3 simply because I thought it looked nice (though, I have to say, the basic design of the seasons with the generic slips are quite attractive on their own).

For next year, I'll do what I did this year - if a slip looks cool to me, and it's in front of me, I'll pick it up - but if not, I certainly won't lose any slip about it or rage at HBO for not putting out the one I want.

Oh gosh, I don't care that much about the slip, but I can say I'd avoid that one like the plague! LOL. Just makes me think of Ramsey and his yuckiness (in fact, after the first watch through - I've watched the series through 4 times now I think I actually skip his scenes because it's just too much, haha).

I think if I was picking, I'd kind of like House Martell.

Don't click any more than one deep into this link if you want to avoid spoilers, but you can see a lot of the house sigils at this link.

I'll wait until it hits $30. I don't really care about the slip or cover or whatever, just as long as I get it for $30 on release day, unless, of course, they have different covers for the same price for me to choose from. I'm not spending more money for a different slip.

I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see HBO break from the norm and release this before Christmas for once. I know they usually love to time these for within about a month of the new season...just surprised they wouldn't try to take advantage of holiday sales.

Me too, but people keep asking, haha - so I thought they'd be interested.

In most cases I'd preorder anyway, with Amazon you'll pay the best price they offer between now and release anyway, but since I might be interested in whatever slip Best Buy may do, I'm holding off myself.

It's never "too early". Give me a preorder ASAP, I always say.
I can cancel at any time, with no penalty, and if the price drops even for a second, I'll locked in at that low price. Win/win all the way around.

For them it's more important to promote the new season rather than some Christmas sales. In any case, Christmas is a time to put what's already available on sale...I picked up my GoT Season 1 & 2 at BB for only $20 each on Black Friday last year!

If Amazon drops in price by the time it ships they adjust the price accordingly, it's part of their Pre-order Price Guarantee policy. They are also good at price matching if say Best Buy has it for a few bucks less. I like to pre-order and forget about it. I don't care about slip covers and I'm not one to drive around town to save $5. I'm also a Game of Thrones junkie, so I don't like to play games when it comes to getting these blu-rays in my hand ASAP. It's worked for me with the first 3 seasons, it shall be so again with Season 4. Amen.
