Lol, i'm a patient guy and am very confident i'll see a region B release by Feb next year.

And to the other guys, of course i'm serious. Has nobody watched this on a 5.1 set up? How was the sound? The PQ looks great going by the caps, which would mean that it's likely to look even better in motion. But what about the sound? Is it as beautiful as the reviewer on this site suggests??

You're patient but yet you really wanna know if a region A disc has great surround sound? What benefit would you get for knowing that Info since you're going to wait for the region B release instead?

did SF ever say why its labeled as releasing "nightbreed: the director's cut" instead of "nightbreed: the cabal cut" ?? didn't know if there was a specific reason in the change in plans. or is this the same thing either way? amazon says its 140 minutes long...and i heard there was 40 minutes of CUT footage, so i guess that jives...

so is the cabal cut the director's cut? or is there a differentiation?

As I understand it the cabal cut is basically a fan edit of all the extra footage that was found. Scream factory is working with Clive Barker to use the extra footage to make the directors cut. Basically removing any footage that might not be worthwhile or contribute to the story in the way Barker intended.

So yes there will be 3 cuts of the movie out there. The theatrical, the cabal cut and the directors cut. Hopefully the extra footage that doesn't make Barkers directors cut with still make it to the extras so those of us that haven't seen the cabal cut can check it out.

Yep, the cabal cut is the film with every single frame of the movie they could find spliced in, essentially bringing the run time up to 3 hours. Once Clive Barker and Scream set out to release this officially, Clive went in and helped re-edit the film creating the directors cut we're all buying. The cabal cut had a lot of poor quality footage and some parts of the film that contradicted each other since re-shoots made it into the final product. The directors cut should be the definitive version as it will use the best elements possible while removing the contradictions in the story.

Because a hypothetical region b release would be extremely likely to utilize the same sound mix? Something along those lines?

Mark Miller : "We're going to call it the Director's Cut because, while the fans have been incredibly supportive and are one hundred percent the reason we got so much attention and a distributor, there are still murmurs that [the Cabal Cut] is overly long, there's some repetitive footage, it still needs a proper sound mix, there are a lot of flaws with it, you know, I mean it's essentially a fan-made workprint. We did it in-house and it's by no means a professional thing. And so when Shout Factory start the restoration and give it a proper mix and digitize it and restore it and Clive goes in and watches it and gives his notes, you know, and suggests the trims and puts everything in order and we have the ultimate thing, that's going to be the Director's Cut because Clive's had his hands in it, you know, it's an official, professional release and we want people to know that it is something different and it is something that's just going to be Clive's ultimate vision... We haven't given up the search [for more footage] - we're still looking! So stay tuned... anything is possible!"
