What does the Collectors Ed. include that the regular one doesn't? Also, will this include the international cut (previous DVD/Blu-ray) and the newly restored cut?

As far as I know, the collector's ed. includes the extended cut and the same cut as the previous release.

As I understand it the Collectors Edition has 2 discs, a 32 page book and a code to redeem a Digital/Digital HD UltraViolet copy.

Disc 1
Extended Directors Cut (251 mins)
Excerpt from the documentary Once Upon a Time: Sergio Leone
Theatrical Trailers

Disc 2
Theatrical Cut (229 mins)
Commentary by Richard Schickel
Excerpt from the documentary Once Upon a Time: Sergio Leone
Theatrical Trailers

The standard edition includes Disc 1 only.

For the extended Italian version Warner Bros did a 4K scan of the original 229 minute movie and I hope this will be used for both discs in the U.S.release with proper color timing, lack of compression problems and no obvious overuse of DNR. Perhaps I am too optimistic.

Darn it, I should have waited! i just opened my sealed copy of the film last night and watched it. It was the 229 min. version. Now I find out! I blew it!!!

Maybe its not so bad though... unless this extended version is restored in higher quality, the 229 min. version might still be the best one. Only time will tell, right?

It's certainly not a waste. Just pick up the Extended DC disc down the road and you'll have your own ultimate edition. I'm guessing the 229 min cut will probably remain the go-to cut for most, while the longer one will be more of a curiosity that you see once. It all depends on the quality I suppose.

Don't bet on it: Leone's children have been trying to restore it since the late 90s and even they couldn't find better materials or more footage in all that time.

Ditched commentary track for no good reason..
The commentary track is on the European version of the film. It wouldn't work ported over to the new cut.

Any reason the complete 'Once Upon A Time' documentary couldn't be included..?
The clips from the other Leone films would need to be licensed since the producers didn't get all uses/formats clearances. With those clearances costing around $3000 per minute if a major studio licenses them, it simply becomes uneconomic.

If anyone gets an early copy of it can they post a pic of the back cover? My friend Simon Abrams is quoted on it but he was referred to as "Scott Abrams" in the artwork that popped up online. I spoke to some friends who work at Warner Bros. and the word was that it got changed, but of course I'd like to confirm it via the final retail version.

That sucks. I noticed that it's correct at least on the DVD back cover that's online. Hopefully it is correct on the actual BD products.

Sorry if this has been covered, but what do we know about the following:

- Is it the same as the already-released European version (cut and quality)?
- Have the original elements been re-visited since the first Blu-ray Disc release?
- If so, is the TC in the 2-disc version identical to the current TC disc, or is it better quality?

Cheers.

At least on the Czech back cover it is right (so it should be also on the others):

The Czech back cover also shows a running time of 253 minutes and a 15?

I'd say it's a typo about minutes (Czech back covers unfortunately usually have them), but we will see. Ratings are different between the Czech rep. and the USA.

Thanks for the prompt response Jospef.

I'm a bit of a OUATIA fan and the more minutes I can get the better.

Less than a week to go for the U.S. version.

I hope people update the thread with image quality reviews. It's a long movie, and it's only 1 disc.
