The first film is still the only horror film or supernatural detective story according to Blatty to ever really scare me and stay with me long after I have watched it. Very effective film!!!!!

It's been exorcised. All kidding aside, Amazon should ship you another copy overnight for the inconvenience.

I absolutely hate the 5.1 mix on EXORCIST III. Way, way too overpowering on the LFE track and with very little surround activity. This is the same garbled mix that Warner used on the DVD and it's not how the movie sounded in theaters or on the laserdisc -- the LD's stereo track has better separation and balance to it. Much better in fact with use of the surrounds throughout.

Between that and the terrible PQ on EXORCIST II, this box is basically a bust for me

Sorry they look bad still in plastic at work. WB hardley ever give you their trailers in HD at all. I can't recall the last time a catalog title did.
Thanks for the photos.
I was thinking if they would make a new artwork for the back but no, they used the same from the dvd.

World would be a boring place if we all agreed with each other.

In my defense the scene is pretty infamous, a google search brings up plenty of discussion about it.

For me personally, it's one of the great jump scares - up there with the Ben Gardner head in Jaws.

Last time I watched Exorcist II: The Heretic was on VHS and I recall thinking what the hell? Looking forward to a rematch on that although the expectations are quite low.
i really loved one of the prequels but i can't remember which one. i need to watch both again to see

Id like to know why George Scott received a worst actor Razzie nomination for III. I just watched it again...and I mean, I guess it's subjective, but I have an acting degree and I don't get what is so terrible about his performance? I bought it. Maybe a few of his outbursts/banter seem unnatural, but there is no way in hell his performance would warrant a Razzie. Rant over.

The EXORCIST III 5.1 DTS MA audio is an abomination. Next to no left/right separation, too much LFE and center-channel driven -- just click on the Portuguese track instead and you can hear how the soundtrack ought to sound (which is how it did in theaters and on home video until Warner inherited the title through Morgan Creek).

I wrote this up in more detail in the EXORCIST III thread here -- https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=148 -- but Warner ought to recall the disc and do the actual mix of the film justice. There's something very, very wrong with the audio on the Blu-Ray.

Yep it shows no care or effort. Just really bad looking. As bad as my blue ray of Magic. Its a bad movie but the cinematography was one of the things it had going for it. A real missed opportunity here. But wowzers that Linda Blair......

I took a few additional caps of my Exorcist II dvd and scaled them up to compare with Blu-ray.com's down-rezed samples. Allowing for the degradation in the mix, I was still taken aback at how strong the DVD looks in comparison. The gains in detail with the Blu are very modest at this level; in the shot of Regan pretending to bend the spoon at the table with Sharon, they're hardly present at all. The framing's a bit different as well, with the Blu being significantly cropped on the right side; I don't know which is more accurate.

Looking forward to a lossless comparison, should some cap-centric site decide to host one.

I may get The Heretic on Blu-ray, though largely because it comes as part of the more cost-effective Anthology option in upgrading my copy of The Exorcist...

pretty happy i cancelled my pre-order. I already own the last release of the first film and only really wanted this if the other films would be worth it with extras and all that. after reading the reviews of II and III on this site my decision made sense for me. seems like they put in no effort at all

Agreed. I think the issue was more with how Kinderman was written. Blatty messed with his characters too much.

I only paid $11.00 each for Heretic and III - seems like it's about all these are worth. Man, these effortless releases from the major studios are a real downer. I wish they'd start a premium line where they charge more for better quality. Or license them away to companies that care.

Only if you're a horror fan I guess. The first movie is a classic, holds up well today. It's always in a top ten for horror, scary scenes, etc

I'm UK based and this was banned here for years, up until about 90's I think

I want to get this but the reviews for II and III are not promising, especially III. I like that one as much as the first.
