Getting warmer, but there are definitely better 70's horror, and better monster movies in need of Blu-ray releases. But Scream Factory did mention something about the acquisition of rights being a complicated matter, meaning that they might not be able to release they really want to. Most would probably prefer Sssssss, or maybe even Spasms, over Jaws of Satan, and no doubt Scream would to, if they had the option. I'll probably get Tentacoli, though I'd rather have Lamberto Bava's Monster Shark (not necessarily a better movie, but more fun).

Sssssss is with Universal so they couldn't get that.. Monster Shark was asked about and shot down.. Id love that film in HD..

Everything seems to be MGM. There are better monster movies but they are with other studios..although MGM has It The Terror From Beyond Space - that's a great one and has an HD master. The Monster That Challenged the World, Konga and Yongary are all great ones to me

Man, Universal should get off its plump behind and either start releasing - or sublicense to someone who will.

Regarding Monster Shark, do you know why it was shot down? Was it a matter of rights or elements?

They could of just said no more CE titles this month to catch us by surprise. Wouldn't be the first time.

Man, these double feature pairings are just making less and less sense.
Should be:
-Empire of the Ants / Food of the Gods
-Frogs / Tentacles
-High Spirits / Haunted Honeymoon
-Jaws of Satan
-Reptilicus / Yongary
-Vampire's Kiss

Probably a forlorn hope, but it would be great if they could also include the original Danish version of Retilicus, with the deleted flying scenes -

- and this moment of madness restored:

With Kino, Twilight Time and others with their hands in the MGM cookie jar there may not be any "big" titles left. Still, "big" is subjective. To me, big means the original Carrie or Silence of the Lambs. At this point, many of the better-known Scream Factory-qualifying titles have already been released so SF will have to start looking at other libraries. They could make a play for the Lakeshore catalog when Image is done with it (hopefully soon) or they could try to keep pestering Lionsgate for some of their films (which would be a major coup). Many of these lower-tier titles like Tentacles and Once Bitten are actually better than some of the "bigger" titles in terms of entertainment value and there's no doubt they have their fans but, let's face it, they're definitely floating around near the bottom of the barrel.

I hope SF can dig a little deeper than just the MGM catalogue. So many films out there that are unreleased.

Here is another title that Scream would have a chance of getting the rights to;

Since our announcement earlier this week of our double-bill of FOOD OF THE GODS & FROGS went over so well with the majority, we thought it would be exciting/surprising if we followed it up and revealed FOUR more “Animal-Creature attack” films coming sometime next Summer for the first time on the blu-ray format! So without further ado…

- Bert I Gordon’s EMPIRE OF THE ANTS (with “Dynasty’s” Joan Collins battling radioactive insects) will be paired with 1982’s devil-possessed cobra film JAWS OF SATAN (with Fritz Weaver as a priest and a young Christina Applegate) as a double feature.

- The Italian-made prehistoric campy octopus flick TENTACLES (starring John Huston and Shelly Winters) will share ocean space with another prehistoric campy water creature – the Danish-made REPTILICUS - on a double feature as well.
This is pretty awesome. I love when-animals-attack horror flicks, and these will sit well on my shelf next to Frogs/Food of the Gods when it's time for a marathon of these flicks.

After watching the Scorpion Releasing Blu-rays of Day of the Animals and Dogs two weeks ago, I'm particularly fired up about these Scream double features, even if I have to wait a long long time.

I truly hate it when actors behave like they're above some of the work they've done and refuse to discuss it. Jennifer Connolly is the same way about Phenomena, and of course there's Kevin Bacon's refusal to associate with anything Friday the 13th. They should appreciate that just about every film has fans, and should be gracious about it.

We need all the extra footage in some form. Otherwise it just wouldn't be worth it.
