Default X-Files to blu

The truth is finally out: Fox is planning to bring the 'X-Files' movies to Blu-ray, the films' producer announced this week via his official blog.

As first revealed on www.xfiles.com, producer Frank Spotnitz surprised devotees with a posting to his blog revealing tantalizing details of first-ever Blu-ray and standard DVD re-issue versions of the first big-screen 'X-Files' film.

Cool, the building implosion scene from the x-files movie is probably the best implosion scene ever, now with that on blu it will be something else

Really nice. Now I need the season series. I made the big mistake of getting rid of my DVDs when I first purchased my PS3.

DOH! I was wondering about this titles future when they announced the new X-Files film last year. I am so looking forward to picking this up. I haven't seen this movie since it came out in DVD.

I really hope Fox treats this well on Blu-ray with a remastered source. I will be buying this regardless and hoping that the series is soon to follow.

They comment that there are no plans (at least currently) to bring the series to Blu-ray... that mighty sucks, me thinks.

I wouldnt hold your breath for the season series. Not only would they need to re-master every episode, but most likely they would need to redo ALL of the SFX shots since I have a feeling they were all done in SD......

I think you might just want to re-purchases the DVDs.

Doing so would require a gigantic expense. They would have to re-assemble the first 5 seasons from scratch. Don't ever expect it to happen, and be pleasantly suprised in the unlikely event that changes. The real catalyst for this would be if a cable channel like Sci-Fi ponys up the cash(keep in mind, Babylon 5 always intended to do an HD version down the line, so they were very careful to keep everything ready to go). Given how played out X-Files is currently, that seems unlikely for the foreseeable future.

Again, very crappy reality, indeed.
