I liked the Grevious/Obi-Wan fight scenes in Sith, didn't really care for the others to be honest.

Truth be told, Jedi wasn't a very good movie. The Luke/Vader/Palpatine showdown was very good but the rest was very meh. The dialogue was terrible, Harrison Ford was just going through the motions, the chases were all extremely derivative (I mean, another trench run but this time inside the Death Star which reminds me...another Death Star??? please) and the overall pacing was terrible.

Is Sith a great movie? No, it's got a lot of problems too. But it doesn't have to be great to be better than Jedi and it kind of is.

I agree with the Harrison Ford comment. He wasn't done with Solo and ready to go....solo.

The second Death Star. Thanks to no internet back THEN, I kept watching and re-watching the first Death Star explode to see if any of it could have survived. I was only 9 at the time and I did not read the book at that time.

Anyway, how do we know the Empire didn't build a dozen Death Stars? Just because we saw the one holo of a Death Star and a skeleton Death Star in ROTS doesn't mean they didn't construct a fleet of Death Stars.

Same here. I'm so excited for this film, I went out a couple of months ago and got a Starbird tattooed on my back right shoulder. If that's how the trailer ends, I'll have to bring a change of shorts.

Vader killed a bunch of children and like 1 maybe 2 Jedi, the clones did all the killing of the Jedi. Was it a dark film sure, was it what had been played up since the beginning of Star Wars no, truthfully that movie could have been the darkest and and craziest of all the movies. It could have blown Empire out of the water, but it failed on so many levels with the wooden acting, and the piss poor dialogue. Hell the movie could have easily been a hard R had it been done right and really made up for all the mistakes that was AOTC.
My New Hope is that they show Obi-Wan getting kicked in the head by a Bantha in SW:Rebels. That might explain his 'point of view'.

Check out his AOTC audition, he does a pretty good job.

I've got to admit, that made me chuckle.
Bad Actor OR Bad Script and Bad Directions?

Upon hearing this dialogue in the theater my first thought was....OK, now Lucas is just TRYING to piss us off!
Tom Stoppard did rewrites to the script, I guess he approved. Maybe it was intentional?

Fixed it for you.

There is nothing wrong with the dialogue.
It's perfect, sweet, and true.
Love it.

Wake up? Is this a spoof trailer?

Here's another description:

[Show spoiler]
  • Fade in from black, shots of the dunes, Boyega pops in to the shot from below. He’s wearing white Stormtrooper armor but he doesn’t have a helmet on.
  • In the teaser we only see Boyega and Ridley really.
  • Ridley boards a speeder.
  • She has a helmet on like Endor Leia, a design with pop-down goggles.
  • A shot of Ridley’s speeder approaching the station (the TMZ set we saw).
  • We see the new Stormtroopers on a transport. The flight is turbulent.
  • New X-wings.
  • TIE Fighters.
  • The new ball droid that’s a gyroscope and belongs to “Kira.”
  • The new “Sith” is also revealed. He has a cross-beam lightsaber and the beam is a bit wilder and more super-charged than your normal lightsaber.
  • The Falcon.

I feel like all these were made up based on the recent supposedly leaked info.

They're teasers. Nothing about it either sounds fake. They both sound very plausible. They'd be good teases, exactly as they should.

The teaser should just be the camera slowly approaching a hooded figure, who turns out to be old Luke. Ignites lightsaber.

Not two characters nobody gives a shit about.

Also, CBM must be the biggest ****ing cesspool on the Internet. I feel like jumping off a cliff every time I accidentally scroll past one of their articles into the comments section.

Truly talented actors can make even poorly written dialogue sound good or at least decent. No-one ever complained about Ian McDiarmid or Liam Neeson in the prequels.

I'm just waiting to see when we see the Disney Logo appears Tinker Bell comes flying out with a lightsaber instead of her pixie wand! That would truly be epic!

If that quote,
[Show spoiler]"Wake up"
, is real, that's going to be the butt of many jokes. As in,
[Show spoiler]"Wake up, grandpa Luke - I know you're old, but you can't sleep all day."
. Hell, Luke is just two years away from collecting Social Security and Solo has been collecting it for eight years already. The Princess has some time, but she's had such a hard life, she looks like she's been hitting the Juri Juice for years.

That's because they didn't have any dialog about love and relationships. That's what Lucas couldn't write.

If you see Christensen's performance in "Shattered Glass", which was released between Episode II and Episode III, he was quite good playing another character who was morally flawed.

Five years before her Star Wars performance, Portman was quite good as the kid in "Leon: the Professional" and between II and III, she was fine in "Garden State" and "Closer". More recently, she was phenomenal in "Black Swan".

No one could act well with those lines she was given in the prequels like "So love has blinded you" and "Hold me like you did on the lake by Naboo..." and "Anakin, you're breaking my heart! You're going down a path I can't follow!". I don't even think a young Meryl Streep could have ever pulled off those lines.

If you read about Lucas' personal life, I think it may provide clues that Lucas has problems with personal relationships and therefore, can't write well about them. That's aside from the fact that Lucas had said, especially early in his career, that he wasn't a very good writer.

Yes he was. You think Lucas didn't know about the criticism of the dialogue in Clones?

The characters/actors are clearly goofing & playing around in that scene you quoted.

Yeah, I've always got that vibe from that scene. I reckon Anakin's being serious (so we can't let Lucas off the hook completely with the dialogue) but Padme's taking the piss out of him. I love how coyly she delivers the "it's only because I'm so in love" line in particular, you wouldn't think that this was the same robotic character from the first two films. She's laying on the edam triple thick, switching into mock-seriousness for the "So love has blinded you?" follow-up, and then even Ani eases up when he realises he's being teased.

It's just such a shame that it took so long for us to see what Padme's really like away from all the politics and war. The deleted scenes with her family in Clones would've helped greatly to humanise her some more (perhaps laying the groundwork for the audience to accept the above scene on the balcony in Sith), but that stuff had to go because Clones couldn't do without the silly droid foundry action sequence which was tacked on in the pickups. *le sigh*
