I'm guessing this won't be a Collector's Edition?
Also is this the most recent film(1999) that Scream Factory has acquired, in terms of theatrical release date?

The Babadook would be the most recent (opened November 21st, 2014).

I know they are all under the same umbrella, but that was Shout. I was wondering if Scream had done anything newer than 1999?

The Babadook is a Scream Factory release, not Shout Factory. The Scream logo is on the spine, IIRC.

Stigmata is an interesting choice that I didn't see coming. But I am happy they're releasing it.

Why didn't you see it coming? I mean, between Kino, Shout, Olive, and Twilight Time, we've had like 1000 MGM titles announced in the last few months.

Every studio is gutting the MGM catalog. I don't even know anything about this film actually. Seems like Scream will primarily be 1980/contemporary titles from MGM. I wonder if they have other deals with Fox or Universal

Dog Soldiers (2002)
Carrie (2002)
Supernova (2000)
Ginger Snaps (2000)

...and, of course, all of the contemporary releases.

No. They have acquired brand new movies like The Battery. But in terms of catalog titles, then yes.

My mother likes the film so I just called and told her about the preorder. I don't think I have ever seen it, looks like I will be ordering two copies.

And here I thought Stigmata was their most current release...definitely not the case!

As beautiful as Patricia Arquette is, she was creepy as hell here.

You might want to check out The Battery, Rick -- it's not for everybody, but if you like your zombie movies to be more character-oriented and meditative, you might like it.

I don't think Stigmata is anywhere near a great film, but having seen it theatrically, I can say that it's one of the most visually striking films I've ever seen. Provided MGM can supply a decent master, I'd say the benefits to the cinematography alone should make it a worthwhile purchase.

I liked this movie and am hoping that I can get it at a good price.

Thank you for the info! I added it to my Netflix queue, of course once I changed it to BD, it went to "unknown".
Perhaps I'll just blind buy.
