20th Century Fox Fantastic Four (2015) Never in 3D

So the recent teaser confirmed what many of us expected, that the new Fantastic Four movie starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B Jordan will be in 3D. I thought the teaser looked pretty cool and i'll definitely be checking this out.

That teaser didn't have enough to do anything for me. I'm sure the follow-up trailers will be much better but for a tease this one was pretty weak.

Thanks Levcore.

Is it true that both Fantastic Four films are already in post production including the sequel set for 2017?

I like the more serious tone of this early trailer and the origin of the characters, which allows them to not be as old as some might have expected them to be. Hopefully this reboot will be more exciting.

A favorite character reading the comic was The Thing, made of rock. It'll be tough to keep things serious in tone while Mr. Fantastic stretches his arms like Plastic Man, without having a comical effect.

There are some changes made that have some comic book fans angry already. I understand diehard comic book fans want to see the comic book brought to life as accurately as possible, though not being flexible enough or forgiving over even small changes will ruin their chances of being entertained by the movie, since they probably won't even see it.

No... The sequel was just dated because Fox (along with Sony and WB with their respective comic franchises) is tossing out dates just to mark their territory.

The only thing being worked on is X-Men Apocalypse. Fantastic 4 is going back for an additional 3-4 weeks of re-shoots. (That's on top of the standard re-shoots that were built into to original schedule.)

Thanks. I thought maybe they were trying to shoot two films at once.

I agree and I hope the next full trailer will reveal more and be more promising.

and terrible. I hope I am wrong though. It couldn't be worse then the last two films could it... I hope not, if it is the films will be dead for a long time.

I agree with you Zivouhr, i like the look of this and am going to give it a go. It looks far better than the Tim Story directed FF movies which suffer from horrible scripts, some poor casting and bad direction (though i think Michael Chiklis and Chris Evans were very well cast as Thing and Human Torch). Hopefully there will be lots of cool action in this and it looks like they'll be going to another dimension which is very promising.

Here's hoping for strong 3D!

Sounds good. These characters can offer some great action scenes with their varied abilities. With the younger cast, it gives the impression that it's trying to tap into the Divergent, Hunger Games, The Maze, Twilight, etc films with younger cast members. This being a super hero movie though, we'll see how it works out.

20th Century Fox is behind The Fantastic Four 2015 releasing August 7, 2015 in 3D, directed by Josh Trank, who is set to work on a Star Wars spin off soon, but also made Chronicle. Chronicle had good ideas, but by the end went off track IMO with where they took the story regarding the main villain's motivations to destroy.

I agree about those two cast members from the original series. And agree that they could have given the original films a greater sense of urgency and more of an epic theme to them. I'll have to watch them again before seeing this and think about what could've made them more exciting movies.

But yeah, I hope the 3D in this one delivers. Glad it's still on track for this year.

It seemed to have worked well for Amazing Spiderman.

Is Fantastic Four still going to offer 3D?
I remember someone mentioned the studio had to drop 3D as they ran out of time or something like that for the August 7, 2015 release date, but I can't find anything about it.
As of now, the 2nd trailer says nothing about 3D. It ends with:

Large Format

according to a BlasterR May 26th online article no, it's not going out in 3D:

"Over the weekend, an intriguing story emerged that Fox’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie would no longer be undergoing a 3D release because of the extensive reshoots that had to be done; reshoots that were apparently helmed by someone other than director Josh Trank.

Superhero News claimed they heard this tidbit from multiple sources, saying it explains why the tag at the end of the newest movie trailer had been updated. Some of you may recall that at the end of the first trailer, the tag read "In RealD 3D and Digital 3D," which clearly indicated the studio planned for a 3D release. However, the tag now reads "In Premium Large Format Theaters" instead (check the pic above). Poof! No more 3D. Sources told the site that Fox chose to ax the 3D release in order to use the budget for additional reshoots, following some pretty negative responses to the superhero movie's original cut.

The site then went on to say that another source told them the reshoots that took place back in April were actually made by Fantastic Four producer and Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn. But the story didn't end there, no sir! Following the posting of said story, Josh Trank took to Twitter to debunk the Vaughn rumor, saying:

@Josh_Wilding Hey Josh, not true. While MV has been very supportive, he's never been to our set. There's only been 1 director of FF2015. Me.

— Josh Trank (@joshuatrank) May 24, 2015
@SuperheroNewsCB Definitely not true. I haven't even met MV in person, and there were no such test screenings.

— Josh Trank (@joshuatrank) May 24, 2015
Next time you read an article, whether it's Hollywood Reporter or SuperheroNews, if they aren't naming sources: it's probably bullshit.

— Josh Trank (@joshuatrank) May 24, 2015
Trank may have been quick to shut down that Matthew Vaughn rumor mill, but he has stayed mum on the whole the-cost-of-the-reshoots-have-led-Fox-to-scrap-the-3D story. Does that mean there's truth to that side of the story?

As most of you guys already know, the troubled Fantastic Four movie production has had a boatload of problems from the start, including Josh Trank apparently trashing the house he stayed in (and that’s only the tip of the iceberg) while filming the movie and not being able to deal with the scope of it all (which may have led to his parting of the ways with Disney over his Star Wars directing gig).

What do you guys think? Will things get worse the more that comes out about the making of Fantastic Four?"

Thanks for the info!
No 3D definitely puts a damper on going to see this right away, though if they went ahead afterall and then had to rush the 3D and release it as mild 3D, I rather have no 3D as it is now than weak 3D.

Reshoots after the response to the trailer? That's a strange choice if it's true. I wonder what they changed that was so important?

Reshoots won't fix bad casting decisions. (And I blame Trank for that, not Michael B. Jordan; IMO they shoulda replaced Kate Mara with an African American actress rather than make up that adoption BS.)

On the Fox Movies website, the film is currently listed in 3D and in Premium Large Format theaters. I hope this is correct!

I see what you're saying. I haven't followed the series Comics for FFour, but I guess it depends on how critical it is that they're brother and sister and how often that's brought up in the movie for general audiences not aware that they're supposed to be blood related.

Yeah, and I also saw a poster in the theater of it showing August 7, with nothing about 3D.

I'll probably see this and hope it's good, but unfortunately no 3D version.
