Target.com had a preorder link for Rio 2 two months before it was in theaters.

Yup, the BDs might be sitting in a warehouse already.

Guess it's just something I'm not used to seeing with the "major" movies I usually follow.

I get it though, it's obviously a movie they didn't have much confidence in what with the delay, and as it turns out for good reasons since it seems to be headed for both commercial and critical failure.

Good time waster. Liked watching it in 3D for all the visual candy, but the story isn't that good. I'll buy the 3D when it gets down to $15.99-$16.99. May be a good Black Friday pickup this year, but not much else.

That's so disappointing, the trailer looks so good, I'm a sucker for sci-fi.

I liked John Carter, so I'm sure I'll like this!

I was hoping this would come out at year's end as a 4K launch title. Now I wonder if it will even get a release on the new format.

Really enjoyed this flick. Fun sci-fi action. Much better then there last flick, Cloud Atlas which was pretty good till the end.

The film was finished at 2k.

Sad
Matrix was a better film, but better special effects. You have got to be kidding me. Go watch the scene with Neo dodging bullets again and look at the background, it has aged, and not gracefully. The scene however is still fantastic.

When you have a sub $20 million opening weekend and equivalent starts in most other markets with a budget as large as this film, no amount of good word of mouth will save the film financially in this day and age. I don't think the marketing was poor per se, it just targeted to small a group (and was essentially non existent where I live).

Saw Jupiter Ascending in theaters the first weekend and I really liked it. It was obviously a very odd film but nonentheless I think some of us would appreciate the throwback tone and creativity.

I'm really looking forward to this on Bluray 3D

Release date: May 12th (according to WB's press site)

Same cover art for 2D and 3D releases (minus the 3D writing for 2D release of course)

Passed on seeing this in the theaters because of reviews, but I am still planning to buy it on blu-ray next week.
