Most likely the difference is due to the PAL NTSC video runtime difference.

Or perhaps it's the director's cut/special edition, but not the extended special edition that was a part of the ultimate edition DVD?

Or perhaps its the new version with Christan Bale's face put on the shot of older John in the beginning and Lena Headey has replaced Linda Hamilton. And Edward Furlong was replaced with Jar Jar Binks.

It is a Optimum/Studio Canal Blu Ray. Canal distributes Europewide via independent companys. Canal is a big supporter of DTS HD MA. So you can expect this. Also it is most likely to have mutli lingual subtitles.

My laserdisc version is labeled "Special edition", and its the same one in the ultimate edition DVD. I wont get the movie on blu unless its that version.

The ultimate edition DVD has 3 versions of the film, although I confess that I haven't seen the longest version. You have to go through some hoops and enter a code to view it. I, too, won't buy T2 on blu unless it's "The Director's Cut," which perhaps is also known as ""The Special Edition."

The only thing extra in the ultimate 154 min cut that is excessable through a code is a scene with Sarah at a playground watching children play when she is an old lady, if I remember correctly I only watched it once.

I remember reading somewhere that the 154 minute version simply put the deleted scenes in to the film via seemles branching option.

Scenes like Kyle Reese dream that is a deleted scene on the old DVD's as an extra.

I believe another code extension scene is the T1000 in John's bedroom touching everything.

should not be relevant on Blu-ray. 24p is 24p.

Default Hd-dvd

They should rather do a port of the Terminator 2 Ultimate HD Edition.

Which featured a 7.1 lossless mix. And other features. Some of which are not technically possible on a Blu Ray. But besides that it was really the Ultimate Edition. I hope for those people, who don't have a HD-DVD Player that they are gonna release that version some day on BD

The Blu release is by far the worst of the bunch, well except for he WMV9 version maybe. The best one right now in terms of AQ/PQ is UK/French HD DVD. However if this is just a port of that encode than this upcoming release will be the same.
