Hell yeah! I always kinda laugh when I see the pre-order before the movie has even been released. BUT, since JP is my favorite series, I already know I'm gettin every edition of this release! Haha, steelbook, bonus material, and swag is all encouraged! :P

That's nothing. Have you watched How the West Was Won (2.89:1) or Battle of the Bulge (2.76:1)?

Yes, I own the first, haven't seen the second, and I shouldn't post on so little coffee. I was thinking backwards...I love Ben Hur, and it's what ? 2:55 ? I know better...sorry.

It's all good. I was just getting interested in ratios. Ben-Hur is actually 2.76:1.

Yeah, just visited the Widescreen Museum site...it'd been a while.

I'm that guy that likes his black bars, at the top and bottom. Nice and wide is the message my eyeballs send to my brain.

Yeah, a newbie that's been studying this stuff since 2008. Thing is, is I don't understand how anyone can retain all the information from both real life, and the info. that's needed to function there, and then all the info. that's needed for unnecessary hobbies, and entertainment pursuits.
I can't do it. I can't forsake a family member's birthday, for the proper aspect ratio of a film I'll watch once every 5 years. So I let the AR go.

some scenes were shot in 65mm - hence the odd 2.00 aspect ratio

"IGN: Can you tell us anything about how the film will look?
We’re shooting 35mm and 65mm film. We’re also using an aspect ratio that hasn’t been seen theatrically in a very long time. The movie will be presented in 2 to 1. It’s basically a middle ground between 2.35 and 1.85. It allows us enough height to fit humans and dinosaurs into a single frame, without giving up that sense of scope. It’s very close to the ratio of the digital IMAX screens, so it will look great in large format. I think other filmmakers will want to give it a try when they see how it looks. It’s very comfortable."

Probably when the format itself gets an actual release date. The BDA is claiming Q4 so I am think we will hear something by end of July.

So freaking what its gonna be released in 3D at the Theater and People that have seen the 3D trailer say its amazing 3D with some cool pop out effects as well. I Wanna own that version at home too. Not a flat 2D version that doesnt really bring the dinos to life like 3D can.

What on earth are you talking about? Normal widescreen is 2.39:1, wider than 2.0:1. And 2.0 is wrong in any case. Virtually all current non-IMAX DCPs (and 35mm for that matter) are either 1.85:1 or 2.39:1. IMAX scenes are usually 1.9:1, but much larger area.

When 1.85 is mastered for Blu-ray, it's generally slightly opened up vertically to fill the whole 16:9 screen (1.78:1), but that's only a few pixels different. Personally, I wish they didn't do that, although the great film restorer Robert A. Harris has no problem with that and if he doesn't, then it's a bit silly for me to do so.

The movie has a confirmed aspect ratio of Univisium 2.00:1.
