FTW or Tie w/ HD DVD

1. A 100 dollar player by xmas.
2. Disney or Fox switch sides.
3. Disney and Fox go neutral.
4. All Spielberg releases with Universal come out only for HD DVD.

Any more guys?
1. I agree w/ this one, hope big billy hunt is right!!!
2. 10 million worldwide? eh, maybe it'll happen - and this only would work if SONY leverages the PS3 as a kick-ass movie player too - which I haven't seen yet.
3. If HD Dud is still around by then, I doubt Lucas would choose just BR.
4. That would help........
5. I doubt a slight tech advantage on displays would have a HUGE impact.

HDDUD:
1. go ahead and do a $100 player. Tosh is already hemmoraging assloads of $$$ on these players, let 'em hasten their demise.
2. switching sides? eh, maybe, but I doubt that would have an impact
3. Neutral would be even less of an issue than 2.
4. again, might give an edge, but wouldn't be the monkey in the wrench, so to speak.........

if Disney went neutral...they'd have to re-encode all of their BD releases...

Either BLU-RAY is going to win the format war or combo players for under $500 in late 2008 will cause both formats to coexist. Which every format gets 100% studio support first is going to win. All the BLU-RAY format needs to win is for Universal Studios to make the business decision to release in BLU-RAY. Then the BLU-RAY camp would have 100% studio support from all the major Hollywood studios.

Two Formats will never co-exist period. This is not like DVD-Audio VS Super Audio CD. As soon as Universal starts putting out movies on Blu Ray, the war is over and Toshiba can focus contributing something useful to the Home Theater again in the form of the SED TV. I heard here that SED TV's have been put on hold indeffinatly. Damn it! I want a 100,000:1 contrast ratio TV.

For the record I don't hate Toshiba I have

Toshiba TV and DVD player and I am impressed with them both

but when it comes to HD-DVD I am steaming

I kinda preffer the slow painful death of a rival format, more fun than a quick one.

whenever i see a spike for hd dvd in the amazon charts i just picture a man that just got hung but his neck didn't snap so he is strangling to death. im not even a morbid person, thats just the image i see. its like they think that if they all get together and can spike sales for a few days it can prove something, kinda like a guy getting all of using all of his energy trying to get one last breath.

I wasn't saying that some of these have a slight chance of actually happening, however theortically if they did it would result in HD DVD coming back. No way Fox or Disney are going to switch sides.
