I thought the Bills couldn't be forced because they have a new coach, but apparently the wording is first-year coach and not new coach, and since Rex has previous head coaching experience he isn't considered a first-year coach. The Buffalo Bills, with coach Rex Ryan and several high-profile additions this offseason, are appealing candidates for "Hard Knocks," the annual HBO series that chronicles a team's training camp.

However, the Bills aren't interested in participating, a team source confirmed Friday. General manager Doug Whaley previously told ESPN at the NFL owners meetings in March that neither he nor owners Terry and Kim Pegula were interested in doing the show.

The Bills cannot be forced to participate because they have a first-year coach.

A report Friday from ESPNCleveland.com stated that the Bills, Washington Redskins and Houston Texans were "potential participants" for the show.

Multiple sources told ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim that Washington was not interested in the show. ESPN Texans reporter Tania Ganguli tweeted Friday that the Texans are "favorites" to be featured on the show.

Looks like it will be the Texans.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sam Bradford's surgically repaired left knee doesn't appear "remotely close" to full health.
It's our fourth Bradford post of the day. This is just reporter Jeff McLane's take, but he believes "the specter of (Mark) Sanchez under center (in Week 1) becomes more and more of a reality" every day that Bradford's rehab drags on. Neither Bradford nor coach Chip Kelly has attached a date to Bradford's return, though both are trying to project confidence that he'll be ready for training camp. McLane reports Bradford was "clearly favoring" his left leg in Thursday's practice. Bradford has the potential to be a fantasy bargain this season, but he needs to get his health in order over the next two months.

Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker Prince Shembo was arrested Friday and charged with killing his former girlfriend's dog, police said.

The incident occurred April 15 and the investigation was completed Thursday, Gwinnett County Police in Georgia said. Shembo was charged with felony aggravated cruelty to an animal.

I'm curious how the Falcons will handle this. Shembo previously was investigated but never charged for inappropriately touching a woman, with the woman committing suicide 2 weeks after the alleged incident.

Edit: That didn't take long, Shembo has been waived by the Falcons. Shembo had already signed a contract so he'll get to keep his $300,000 signing bonus.

The Panthers are closing in on a contract extension with Cam Newton.
The deal, which could be done as soon as Monday afternoon, is expected to keep Newton in Carolina through the 2020 season.
