Default Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma

Quote:
Developer Redacted Studios and indie publisher Versus Evil have released the first trailer for Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma ahead of E3, showcasing the design inspiration from the series' manga and anime roots.

The trailer also depicts several key story beats from the game, setting the stage for Kuma's journey on a path towards exacting bloody revenge against Afro, the man he blames for the deaths of those he loved.

Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Volume 1 will launch for PlayStation 4 and PC on September 22, publisher Versus Evil announced.

The game will also be available for Xbox One “shortly thereafter [the PS4 and PC release] at a date to be announced.” The PlayStation 4 version will also receive a special discounted Trilogy bundle containing all three volumes of the game for 20 percent off the regular price (30 percent off for PlayStation Plus members). Volume 2 and Volume 3 will launch at a later date. Each will have its own story arch, characters, combat styles to master, and original soundtrack.

A sequel to the 2009 PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game, Afro Samurai 2 is a third-person actin game and picks up where the first game left off. The story follows the path of Kuma, a cybernetically enhanced killing machine with a bear’s head who was once Afro Samurai’s closest childhood friend called Jino. After Kuma is defeated by Afro, he regains consciousness, but must regain his strength, humanity, and sanity in order to go after Afro and avenge the deaths of those he loved, including his adopted little sister Otsuru, who was murdered at the Sword School massacre.

That 1 was made by Namco though. But considering that it was the only title released under Namco's Surge label and then having someone else make a sequel, it probably shouldn't be a problem to obtain the rights to the 1st game since it seems like Namco gave up on it.

Bought the Volume bundle.

Honestly, the game is not good.

Very little to do other then watch the show. You get a few moments where you have control & then are greeted to a cutscene. By moments, I mean you get around 20 seconds of gameplay before you're hit with a random cutscene or the chapters end. I stopped after chapter 3. Unless you are a diehard fan, I'd recommend you pass.

Couple bothersome things. You get upgrade points. You can't spend them. The screen size varies for cutscenes but it is not 16:9 standard aspect ratio. Black bars top & bottom & left & right.

Exclamation Last Time I Pre-Order!

A few weeks ago I suddenly had $32 in my PS Store wallet, and of course flipped out about it! Wasn't until yesterday that I discovered WHY I received the money (they might have sent an email, but my email address for my PSN account has been locked for some odd reason), I decided I wanted to download it again to get that last trophy (because 500 gigs ISN'T enough room), and it was GONE! After a Google search, I found out that the developers got so much flack over how "god-awful" it was, that they cancelled it. Instead of improving the next games, they cancelled WHOLE project! That is a crock of crap! I was enjoying the story.

Well I would have liked to have even be able to play it since I like Afro Samurai's Anime series and even have played the PS3 game, but I don't have any of the systems this game of the series was on and then it got pulled. But it's more like download-only sucks moreso than pre-ordering a game that gets pulled with only 1 of its Volumes released. It's even worse on the free-to-play download-only titles since once the server is gone, it's gone for good with no chance of being able to play it again even after the servers are removed and even things you purchased could become useless or not even be able to use all of it. Though those kind of games need at least some kind of offline portion so that it can at least still exist even if the servers are gone and can still buy the DLC if you want.

But i've played many games that have been said to be crap and I loved it. I like to be the judge on such things based on my personal tastes. Like there's even titles that have been said to be like Game Of The Year material(or even went as far as to win that award), and I think it's the crappiest game ever made.

I read ya! I fell victim of that very thing with "Gotham Imposters". I ONLY played through the tutorial before I went back and found that the game was no longer available! I was pissed! I didn't even get a refund in that case, but at least I did THIS time.

In regards to this game itself, I had a good time playing through it! I LOVED the look of it, so I'm absolutely grateful that the PS4 has the ability to screencap (unfortunately it won't allow me to post it here directly from the system). I took so many, you can practically flip through most of the storyline from the game!
