Wow, really excited about this coming out in 3D (I hope). Definite pre-order.

I knew something was 'Up' because all the TV commercials make a point of showing "3D" at the top.

FROZEN was never announced as being a Blu-ray 3D release on the Disney Movie Club site. As noted before, it appears that Disney has no problem releasing the Marvel and Pixar titles in 3D--it is just movies made by Disney itself. I have a feeling that Star Wars: the Force Awakens will be offered in 3D Blu-ray format as well even though the re-releases of the prequels never materialized on home video (and 2/3 didn't make it to the theaters either but were supposed to be shown at Disney's Star Wars Celebration on Anaheim, but from what I can tell, that never happened either). Here is the announcement from Starwars.com from back in January: http://www.starwars.com/news/revenge...inkId=11544540
I think fans are clamoring so much for the new Star Wars film that Disney will not deny them the opportunity of getting the 3D Blu-ray version. The audience for Star Wars films, like the audience for Marvel films, is very different from the audience of Frozen. Truth be told, I always thought Disney would eventually release a special 3D edition of Frozen similar to the way movies like The Lord of the Rings trilogy are rolled out in edition after edition. That still may happen. With all the Frozen-themed events at the Disney parks and the new Frozen attraction opening next year at Epcot, Disney may be saving it for later. Trouble is, many of us (myself included) have already gotten it from Amazon UK and will continue to do the same as long Disney refuses to release 3D versions here in the US.

Its good to finally hear a few positives about this one's 3D. So far I've been hearing nothing but underwhelmed responses to the depth.

Actually, Disney Movie Club had Frozen 3D available for pre-order immediately after the movie was released in theaters. I originally placed an order through them which was subsequently cancelled. You can read through the Frozen 3D threads in this forum for other examples.

Also, I believe Revenge of the Sith 3D was in fact shown at this year's Star Wars Celebration (at least, they had specific dates scheduled and were prepared to distribute promotional 3D glasses): http://www.starwarscelebration.com/e...sses-Included/

But I agree -- I believe that Disney will release Force Awakens on Blu-ray 3D, and maybe even Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith at some point. My guess is that Lucasfilm, like Marvel and Pixar, controls the formats on which their films are released. Walt Disney Home Entertainment is simply the distributor.

Considering that 20th Century Fox still has the theatrical and home video rights to the Star Wars prequels till 2020 (Lucasfilm holds the digital and broadcast rights), I doubt we'll see 3D BD releases for the prequels.

Went and saw this in 2D last night since everyone in here wasn't raving about the 3D. Learned my lesson with Jurassic World last week as the 3D wasn't that great, even my 8 year old said the 3D on that one wasn't impressive. All that said I will be picking up the 3D release if given the option when it comes out

I don't know what the hell you all are griping about

but one of the best instances of the 3D depth - if you theater's brightness levels are calibrated correctly - was the instance when
[Show spoiler] Bing Bong tells them they should take the short cut to the train and the view into the dark 'Danger Do Not Enter' passage way - the foreground to the train in the background had a reverse wow factor of 'whoah that looks far, foreboding and dangerous' element to the scene

Oh yeah! Forgot about that shot! I'm still surprised the 3d reviews here are so mixed. Am I crazy for thinking the 3d looked great?????

Attack of the Clones also had a 3D screening at the Star Wars Celebration. (all three actually) 'Attack and 'Revenge' had their debuts there.
