So the UK Edition is cut?!

I have Hobbit 1 and 2 EE 3D editions from the UK with Lenticular front slipcases and pre-ordered the 3rd one just yesterday but if it is cut, I will get the US edition.

It will most likely be identical everywhere, don't worry. The ratings may vary, though, as views on violence and what's appropriate can differ a bit between different cultures. For example, while it's rated R in the US, Germany's FSK (their equivalent of the MPAA) only gave it a 12. I don't think the BBFC have rated it yet.

Like MG said above, MPAA is funny when it comes to violence, and the rating does sound like it just tipped off the iceberg, I doubt this'll be cut because Desolation of Smaug EE got a 15, so it would be daft to cut it now.

Why would it be cut? It hasn't even been submitted to the BBFC yet. It's home video - if it has to be a 15 they won't care (as Foggy says, DoS was a 15 thanks to the extras). If this was a cinema release, different story - but then Warners wouldn't release an R rated version theatrically in the States either.

It might also just turn out to be a 12 in this country - it's been known for R rated films to be only rated a 12 by the BBFC, such as Terminator 3 or About Time. The two ratings agency aren't the same, they have different ratings, different criteria and different viewpoints.

Don't panic

It's tempting and I have the first two already! I think I might just wait for the third one to drop in price a little bit. I haven't gone through the first two extended editions.

Zavvi can be hit and miss with cancellations, some people always seem to get lucky.

I imagine I'll get a cancellation email Monday morning.

Id of thought just the standard version. Also strange that it says 5 discs. Must be the films and no extra discs and they managed to get the 3rd one onto one disc.

Ill just stick with getting the matching 3rd one to go with these 2 then for the extras

Its just incorrect product info something Amazon are well known for.

At that price you can be certain it will be a 15 disc set (6x 3D film discs, 3x 2D film discs, 6x Bonus Discs)

This is only the 3rd film not the Trilogy so 5 discs is correct. It might be a Limited Edition with statue or some other goodies.

Pretty sure it was advertised as the Extended Edition Trilogy earlier in the day hence the confusion but it has now changed to match the description of their other listings, all very confusing but no doubt will be reduced to a single listing in the coming weeks/months.

Ah, I see then.

Amazon has always been confusing with new releases but this time it is worse. I've pre-ordered the normal 3D EE (the one that is listed for £21.99) and they don't even mention 3D in the title. I am just speculating it is the normal 3D EE because there were no 2D EE UK releases for the first 2 films and the £24.56 edition would be the Steelbook.

Makes sense and no doubt the £50+ one will eventually become the Trilogy set.
