haha no problem, yeah it will take awhile, but it gets the job done, anytime im looking for a program to do an odd job like that, download.com usually has something thatll work, most of them come with free trials, and you can always find registration codes if you know where to look, but i dont endorse that or anything

If you look in your My Music folder there should be a folder for iTunes, and then a folder for iTunes music. That's the folder where iTunes stores everything. If all you want to do is back up your songs, all you need to do is copy that folder onto an external.

Few years ago my HD dedicated to music crashed and lost all my MP3's. Fortunately I had a back-up which was my ipod.....but how to get the music off w/o itunes.

Answer sharepod
http://www.getsharepod.com/download/

It's just an external application that is stored on your ipod. When I go to work I can open it up the program w/o installing anything (so i'm not violating anything ) From there a player interface opens with my entire music library. The program allows me to ADD as well as REMOVE mp3's without the need for itunes.

It sure is bouncing around while it downloads. Went from all my Primus to Slipknot. I figured it would of started with A and through Z..

So I finshed transfering everything to my external hard drive. Most everything went perfect. All the songs went perfect, but 75% of the band titles didn't I have a jumbled mess of songs now on my external hard drive. What do I do? How do I correct this? I'm willing to try something else.

How did you get the songs on your iPod in the first place if they're not on your computer now?

Lets see, going to take care of two posts at once.

1st one. They are showing up as just the title of the songs in alphabetical order. If I ever break my Ipod I'd be screwed on my new one with just the names of the songs showing up.

2nd one. THis is my second computer since I got my ipod. I've never stored music on either. It just takes up to much space. I also have a ton of live stuff from taper friendly shows. Les Claypool is vey cool like that.
