My father ran over and dropped off the blu. Gonna watch tonight. If it's as great as you all say, I'll pick up a copy tomorrow (or my 2 year old or 4 year old will hold it while sitting in the shopping cart and we'll accidentally steal it). Either way, my dad was about to throw out his slip, so I put it in my box of blu-ray slips.

At least they are trying to make up for their ineptitude. Still it sucks that some of yall missed out on the steelbook. Best Buy should just make more and do another limited run and guarantee a steelbook for all the people that didnt get one.

And that's why with Best Buy, I don't do in store pick up for steelbooks. I'd rather chance getting a slight dent in the mail than deal with them overselling their product by not putting the reserves aside first.

Reserved it online yesterday and went to pick it up shortly after. The guys at Best Buy spent 20 minutes looking for it and eventually just told me they'd order it for me and give me a discount. As I go to pay at the counter, one of the employees walks up with a copy and gives it to me and they also gave me a $12 discount!!
I was estatic. This steelbook is beautiful |

The important phrase here is "completely unnecessary" as there are numerous other sequences in this beautifully photographed movie that aren't sped up and are just as exciting. The sped up scenes remind me of Sean Connery fights during early Bond films where the punches were always sped up to make them look more exciting...I don't think its a good or necessary effect in 2015. |

Yeah, sped up frames is definitely something I've never liked, in any film. Unless it's being used for comic effect (e.g. the Three Stooges running away), it's always bugged me. That said, I found it tolerable in Fury Road because I only really notice it a few times during exterior daytime scenes. The tunnel scenes early on are rather dark, so I don't really spot it there unless I'm specifically looking for it. But overall, it's an effect that normally just feels corny and can take me out of a moment when I see it.

Looking over Miller's credits it's kind of funny he goes from Mad Max to like Happy Feet and Babe and then back to Mad Max. What a contrast.
