Here's a simple puzzle that you can google the answer to but try not to.

You are on a game show. There are 3 doors to choose from and behind one door is the prize. The doors are 1, 2, and 3.

You choose door 1.

The host of the game show opens door number 3 to show you that the prize is not there.

Do you benefit from changing your choice to door 2?

Oh wow, I didn't realize that. I read the book Bringing down the House so I had high hopes for 21. I couldn't finish it.

no, because the rules don't state we are to assume the host chooses to reveal a door he knows is empty (as opposed to a random pick by the host). if we do assume the host picked a known-empty, then the answer is yes you should switch.
