Probably The Conjuring 2. I've got a bad feeling about Warcraft, both in terms of box office and quality. I've already seen Now You See Me 2 and it was not good.

Conjuring. Would love to see Warcraft make an impact.

WoW is going to flop, majorly.

The Conjuring was one of the first wide release horror films that not only made huge money at the box office, but also was pretty well received. So a sequel to that? Yeah, that's definitely taking the win.

Plus, when was the last wide-release horror movie, at all? The Forest way back in January? The Conjuring 2 has the scary movie field all to itself, and the excellent reviews will only help.

The Boy and The Witch were also released after The Forest. But nothing has broken out in a big way. There weren't even any huge horror breakouts last year. It's time for a big horror breakout.

With almost every sequel this year underperforming, its going to be difficult for Conjuring 2.

1. The Conjuring 2 $27M
2. Warcraft $22M
3. TMNT $20M
4. Now You See Me 2 $15M
5. X-Men $10M

With how sequels have been doing this year, I think NYSM 2 will follow the path.

Warcraft Looks interesting to me, but it is predicted to flop. The horror movie will win.

The only reason the sequels are underperforming are most of them haven't been good. That's the problem. The Conjuring 2 actually looks very good, and is getting pretty good reviews. It'll do just fine. It also helps there's actual story to tell here...

By this weekend, 7-8 of the Top 10 will be certified Rotten. Either this has been a bad Summer for movies, or critics have been especially harsh this year. Personally, I feel it's a mix of both.

It's been a bad summer. What really good big budget movies* have we gotten? Civil War is probably it. X-Men: Apocalypse was a disappointment. I haven't seen Alice 2 yet, but most reviews have not been kind. And TMNT 2 was bad(and no, nostalgia isn't enough to overcome its glaring flaws).

*When I say big budget movies, I'm excluding lower budgeted fare like The Nice Guys or Popstar both of which have gotten mostly solid reviews. Unfortunately they're underperforming as well.

I enjoyed Batman v Superman (Not really a summer release though) and X-Men: Apocalypse. Even if many disliked them, they weren't as abysmal as most critics would have you believe. Civil War was also good, although not as good as critics as critics raved either.

I just feel like this year especially, the critics have been extreme with their reviews, every film is either amazing or completely awful, when most of them have just been good or okay.

I don't count BvS. That came out in late March. I'm starting with Civil War which was the first weekend in May. We still have nearly 3 months left in the summer movie season, so things can always turn around. But my own personal feeling is that this summer has been very underwhelming. Frankly the entire year's been that way thus far.
