No, they got this one from Morgan Creek. WB recently lost the rights to their library.

An excellent score for Scream Factory!!! Dead Ringers is arguably David Cronenberg's finest hour as a filmmaker. Enough can not be said for Jeremy Irons' dual performance, it's masterful acting.

Guys, I would wait and see if Scream gets the Criterion special features. They will probably port over the Warner commentary track, but who knows if Criterion will license out there Commentary track and features. With the exception of Sony releases (and that is due to Sony having some type of ownership of Criterion produced features), Criterion leasing out features is not the norm.

Damn, that's disappointing. Looking at the list of Morgan Creek titles, I don't recognize a single genre title that hasn't been released or announced. Even the dregs of the bunch like "Crush" is upcoming.

Besides Diabolique (1996), maybe? I don't know what that is. A remake? I also kinda hope they revisit Nightbreed and do a theatrical single disc, if that one's now up for grabs, cause I didn't really like the DC. But I doubt they will, cause all the people who paid 70 bucks for the LE for that disc would probably be pissed, and rightly so.

If they can release The Garbage Pail Kids, surely Scream could snag Stay Tuned and put it out. That flick is insanely fun with John Ritter at his manic best.

I can definitely see films like Stay Tuned and Freejack getting the Scream Factory treatment!

Except that they have licensed to both Criterion and Shout/Scream (Nightbreed).

And hopefully its in 1.66:1, Cronenberg's preferred aspect ratio.

I think it'd definitely a well-put together movie. So well-put together and with such heavy subject matter, in fact, that it doesn't have a lot of replay value for me- it's already pretty much burned into my brain, whereas I can go back to The Dead Zone and The Fly again and again.

Strange choice for Scream Factory. I really expected Criterion to put this out on blu-ray.

Perhaps Shout and Criterion did some deal where the rights to the new Carrie blu-ray were exchanged to Criterion with the rights for the Dead Ringers blu-ray going to Scream.

Nightbreed wasnt a deal, it was a favor for Clive Barker who requested it from Warner. As for Criterion Warner's deal is also favor and special circumstances related. Criterion has remastered some Warner titles and in return Criterion has gotten a bunch of titles from them, as youve seen already..

I was hoping for a Criterion as well, but I'm just happy that someone is putting it out. Very excited

And Twilight Time got a few from WB, mostly due to requests (one from Oliver Stone).

Besides these very rare exceptions, WB doesn't license.

Fingers crossed for that. If Cronenburg supervised the transfer, that could be the case. At least someone is releasing it.

I am hoping for Shout/Scream to release "Pacific Heights" and "White Sands" out of the Morgan Creek library. Those haven't been announced yet already, have they?

Now what are the chances of Cronenberg's Shivers, Rabid, Spider, and Crash getting a Blu-Ray release!?

"Favor" or not, a licensing deal was indeed struck in order for Shout to release it. So yes, it WAS a deal, even if a special one. Semantics, but a deal's a deal.

Saying WB doesn't license when three other companies have released their films is rather disingenuous. Do they license often? No. Have they licensed before? Yes. Circumstances have nothing to do with it, because who knows, any WB film could fall under "special circumstances" for whatever reason.
