Fantastic film and first rate blu-ray transfer. The Italian blu-ray is region free and English friendly if you don't want to wait. This was an Italian/American co-production so it was produced in both Italian and English.

Anyone know what the final extras are on the UK edition - compared to other versions?

I have pre-ordered this, blind buy. I haven't even watched the trailer just seen a few shots from it and read the synopsis. Sounds great, hope it's good.

Is it English language just out of interest? (doesn't affect my purchase)

If you are a fan of old-fashioned fairy tales with an adult twist you are in for a real treat.

The film is in English, although the credits are displayed in Italian.

It's better than anything Del Toro has done in at least 10 years

Would be interested to know if there is an Italian language version (with subs) and an English language version on the BR...

Still weighing the differences between the UK or Italian version.

Cheers.

The movie was filmed with some actors speaking English and others speaking Italian, so there really isn't an "original" soundtrack. Both the Italian and English are dubbed. Subtitles aren't really necessary because both mixes were done concurrently and are pretty much identical, except for language.

I have the Italian version, and based on the descriptions, it looks like the UK one is identical. Just get whichever one is cheaper. The Italian one is region free if that helps.

Very captivating movie with wonderful performances and even better visuals. I thought it was pretty great apart from two things. The ending was a bit of a letdown, or shall we say a little abrupt and I really hated the scene with the performing bear and that was very uncomfortable for me to watch. Over than that highly recommended.

[Show spoiler]Did anyone feel that Toby Jones King didn't really get any comeuppance for his obsessive behaviour? Salma Hayek paid the price and so did Vincent Cassel to a degree (losing his new wife at the end) but Toby Jones King's story didn't really have much of a resolution.

Boring question - does this version come with a slipcover?

Thinking I'll end up picking up the UK version - as extras seem similar to the Italian version.
