I searched the forums for this and even Google but could not find any solid info on this topic. I always have a lot of people over to watch movies. I have seating for 6-7 people (sofa:3or4, loveseat:2, chair:1) The love seat is perpendicular to the right main speaker and in line with it (slightly out of its firing range and the right surrounds firing range). This makes for a dull movie experience when compared to the other seats in the room and one stiff neck at the end. I do not have enough room to move the giant mains farther apart (not even an inch, due to pool table).
I was thinking of placing the loveseat/chair behind the sofa (main seating/sweet spot) on raised platform (14-18 inches). I'm thinking 2 feet of leg room from cushion to back of sofa. How would the speaker placement for the surrounds work if I were to do this? Calibration (YPAO)? Pros/cons? Speakers: 5.1 (regular surrounds) (receiver is 7.2 capable, but wallet won't be for a while) |
