Silly Americans. The more you ask your government to do for you, the more of your freedom will be lost. Everyone was ecstatic on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. I'm sure you all felt warm and fuzzy as Oprah and the rest of the world sang Kum Ba Yah. Wake up. You'll need a second job just to support Obamanation (that is, if he is successful in pushing through the programs he has envisioned).

It's so intellectually lazy to blame George Bush for the economic mess in which we find ourselves. However, if you do some digging, you will find the roots of the current problem in legislation called "The Community Reinvestment Act." Unrestrained greed had more to do with the current crisis than anything else. Bad judgement spread from Wall Street to the individual homebuyer—everyone was out to make a quick buck without producing a thing. People invested in properties they were ill-prepared to afford—don't tell me they were coerced by unscrupulous lenders. Are we not free to make our own decisions anymore? The mortgage crisis has more to do with excessive risk-taking than anything else. Everyone was gambling with their future and those who lost should have to live with their mistakes.

Recessions are normal. Economies have ebbs and flows. The government has been lowering interest rates and printing money to artificially keep things afloat and the Republicans out spent the Democrats they replaced—they got what they deserved—the boot. What we have now is a perfect economic storm and it will take years for us to dig out of it.

My fear is that there is nobody on the horizon prepared to clean up the mess after the next four years have passed. Yes, I am praying that my fears about Barack Obama are baseless.
