As Far as manufacturers go, if you have the money. TV - High end Mitsubishis or Pioneer Elite models, both are consistently the best TV manufacturers right now. I have a Mitsu Diamond series RPTV HDTV that the picture quality looks better than most DLPs (of course I have professionally calibrated mine). Speakers - I like Definitive Technology (Def Techs for short). Of course you wont find any of the models I have mentioned at Best Buy or Circuit City. If you have an Ultimate Electronics or specialized audio/video store where you live, then thats where I would look. other speakers worth a look Boston Acoustics, Paradigm, Klipsch to name a few

Speakers should be Paradigm. Simply the best for the money.
If you live near Canada, and can drive there, you get them waaaaay cheaper than if you buy in the USA, for example. Almost 40% less! Ship them into the USA from Canada, and you get stuck with huge import taxes that negates the entire point of doing it. Seriously.. demo some Paradigm speakers. |

When you first buy a television it is never set up for optimal PQ out of the box - the quick and easy way to calibrate it would to buy a calibration disc like AVIA ( a disk that has HT info plus picture and audio set up info ), or you could pay someone to calibrate it more in depth. Your television has advanced setup options other than color brightness and sharpness settings, that you cant access just by your main menu. If you know how to do it yourself, you can do it, but I think that voids your warranty. It makes your picture look much better than it does out of the box.
