Every time Mark Kermode cranks out his top tens of the the year, I always feel ashamed that I haven't seen any of them.

Jealous of people who have seen enough films to already be making top ten lists... I usually can't even get one started til February or March

To be fair, my list has usually entirely changed by the end of February.

According to my Letterboxd, I've seen over 50 new movies this year. I'll have a 10 best and 10 worst list.

Kermode is the man.

Good to see Julieta in that top 10 when I've seen too many label it as 'minor' Almodovar. It's the most affecting family drama I've seen in awhile (along with Manchester by the Sea). That moment with the towel where the two Julieta's merge and you feel the years of pain and grief that Emma Saurez conveys with her face is ****ing movie magic!

Going to be in my top 10 for sure (if anyone gives a shit).

I ran the end of year list last time (and most likely will this time) and usually give people until end of Feb/early March so people have time to fit in things they haven't seen and anyone outside the US gets a chance to see any late releases in their home country. There's still time to get watching!

Of Kermode's list so far I'd say I reckon I've only seen I, Daniel Blake, which is in my top 10 so far, too. Part of me wants to see Julieta, but I hated Wild Tales (I generally like Amodovar movies but that one just put me off).

Wild Tales wasn't directed by Almodóvar, he was just one of the producers, just like his brother and some other people.

Ah, good to know. It kept being recommended to me by friends and seemed well reviewed, but I wasn't a fan.
